I'm surprised Adramelch's Broken History is so well-liked. I didn't think it was very good at all.

Yeah, I've only listened to it twice, I didn't find it anything special either. Maybe it needs more listens to get into it, but comparing it to the allmighty Irae Melanox is out of the question for me.

It's certainly a lot more straightforward than 'Irae Melanox' but it's so majestically done and performed. Still very original arragenements, harmonies, progressions and those vocals are staggering! Ballerio sounds so incredibly sorrowful. I've adored the whole thing from the first listen to now. 2:47 'Dethroned in Shame' is the one.

Not heavy metal in the strict sense. But if can actually talk about the first LA GUNS or the first two MOTLEY CRUE albums without being outrageously off-topic in this forum, then we can talk about CRASH DIET as well.

I fucking worship that album. I remember listening to 'Out of Line' 70-80 times the first couple of days. The album is perfect. Catchy, melodic and powerful. Perfect. Just perfect.
Cool. I was expecting some slightly different replies about that. :) I know what you mean about it not being strictly metal, but I honestly think it is more metallic than a lot of the stuff that passes as metal these days (suppose that's no different than in the past). On the other hand, I was a bit surprised to see that metal-archives allowed it on their site.

would have a few different ones personally (apart from first place), but was too lazy until now to post them in the other thread (and feared the flaming :D ) so I won't start a discussion here!
My flame-thrower is already heated up, so just bring'em on!
many faves of mine among those mentioned: Pagan Altar, Slough Feg, Portrait, Primordial, .. few additions without expecting much appreciation at least for 2/3 of them here but so what

SATYRICON - Volcano. seems not to be highly regarded anywhere because of sell-out etc. - whatever, for me biographically this is of high importance because it was the album that brought me back on the metal track in the beginning of the decade. maybe it's my non-metal years before that I like this particular album so much, no idea. still think though that the part from 3'55" of "Repined Bastard Nation" is one of the all-time-greatest moments in metal, at all

POWERWOLF - Lupus Dei. saw them live before Candlemass and was not too impressed at first because of their cheesiness and the constant posing.. nevertheless bought their first two CDs a little bit later and haven't got tired of esp. their 2nd for years now, which is, for me, the perfect album of a certain kind of metal - it has everything: the riffs, melodies, hooks and a bloody stupid image - it's hellish great fun!
the whole band seems to be fake btw., love them anyway..

NECROS CHRISTOS - Triune Impurity Rites. discovery of the last year maybe - fantastic live act and a interesting approach to current Death/ Black Metal.

I don't know if I've heard anything I would call a classic that came out this decade. The newer albums I keep coming back to are all of the Machetazo albums (most of them recorded in the last decade) and Funerot's LP. I should think a bit more about this but I think those are my favorites. Abscess' "Through The Cracks Of Death" is an amazing Death Metal album as well.

Well then 80% of the demos that are being rereleased today count as new releases. That doesn't seem very right to me.

If a song was written 20 years ago it doesn't mean that it was also released at that time. That's not the case with Apollo Ra though.
