Both Helm's answer and mine are different so no a single reply apply for both.Avenger wrote:See my reply to Helm.metalmaster wrote:Sorry but I would rather call Black Metal the first and even the second album of Running Wild than all those shitty bands ripoffing Bathory endlessly. Running wild had the satanic and revolting lyrics, much more mature than those crap bands hailing genocide, detruction, etc. It seems newer generations havent learnt nothing and go backwards to the extreme of ridiculous. And still they deny Venom as Black Metal!Avenger wrote: Calling Running Wild "Black Metal" today when we are all fully aware what Black Metal really is now is just being ignorant. The second part of the last of the three replies to Helm answers your question.metalmaster wrote:Both Helm's answer and mine are different so no a single reply apply for both.Avenger wrote:See my reply to Helm.metalmaster wrote:

You guys made the same point.

Would I be a silly cow if I said I like early RUNNING WILD better when thinking of it as Black Metal? Somehow when I do the RW=BM equation in my head I get this warm, cozy feeling and remember how downright SCARY the BM-monicker sounded to me as a kid. Almost makes you forget the last 2 decades of consistent downfall...
Frankly any old band that dared to call themselves both Black- and Speed Metal - whatever the sound - always turned out awesome. Just look at VOIVOD!

That's only because deep down you have always wanted to be a tr00 grim black metal kid of the kvlt norwegian deep forests, but you have somehow always felt a little to intimidated by the grotesque imagery of baphomet heads, theatrical blood, corpse paint, poorly dyed hair and oversized beerbelys, so here you are, clutching at whatever straws you can feel comfortable with. So you're excused.DaN wrote:Would I be a silly cow if I said I like early RUNNING WILD better when thinking of it as Black Metal? *puts on STYGGMYR's last album and mopes for the rest of the weekend*
I really don't see what OBJECTIVE METALLIK LAW is being violated when a band that doesn't play with constant blastbeats is called black metal. After all, wasn't the Norwegian style supposed to be the 'second wave' of black metal? And the first was all this thrasy or speedy metal like Sodom or Venom or yes, even early Running Wild?
I agree with that. I like first wave Black Metal which includes bands like Bulldözer, and I also dare to include Future Tense and Mercyful Fate.Helm wrote:I really don't see what OBJECTIVE METALLIK LAW is being violated when a band that doesn't play with constant blastbeats is called black metal. And what about Flames Of Hell? I would say they're 100% Black Metal.
(Maybe we should start a thread on Black Metal too).
