Can't help you with your last question i'm affraid, but i think that the "overground collector" as well as the true "underground downloader" or whatever can coexist without going for each others' throats. Maybe i should post only in the "Into Battle" section again but it's not that there is a lot of discussiing going on in the last few months, so in posting a few photos that at least did cause some reactions, for good or bad.

Ah, and while i'm here my new find: ZEN VENOM - From Another Planet 12", oh dear, new amunition for our class warrior daniel...

Nice find. You are on quite a run! Think I am more likely to see a flying pig than a copy of Zen Venom here in the Uk

I only said that if I say "I pay 10000 euros for a copy of "Plan of Attack",I'll find one in no time.Where is the great find wise guys?
How much you spend for a record is your own problem and I don't care no matter if I bother or not,but when someone says "great find" when you spend tons of $$$ for a record and he can only see a "great find",then we have a problem. And again, this is not about you Sgt. Kuntz! You never stated prices as far as I remember, even thou this thread should include the prices of the records obtained to be fairer."Great find" my ass...

@Trigger

I'm really not sure what do you want to say, maybe you can it explain a bit more detailed?

What he's saying (I think, correct me if I'm wrong Trigger) is that buying a very rare record for $10000 isn't a "great find", as you only payed what it was worth. Finding it for $5 in the used bin would have been a "great find".

Anyone with an unlimited budget can amass a killer record collection in relatively short time, and some people see this as "untrue".

To be "true" (according to some people) you have to crawl attics, descend basements, answer obscure newspaper ads, basically get dirty trying to find those elusive private presses. Buying them on eBay is simply not the same thing.

Please note that the statements above not necessarily corresponds with my own attitude to record collecting.

Okay, I think I got it.

Well, the times that most of us have been searching in cellars/attics etc. are long time gone, even the amount of Record shops (my experience) has dramatically decreased since Internet has offered much more opportunities for buying records.

Money may be helpful to get "most wanted" records, I preferd the "got it from the $0.50 box" alternative, although this has become much more unrealistic (at least at my area).

but looking at the egay trend, for example, is starting to be no option with those idiotic prices for records that you could find from 15-40 usd and now are reaching almost 100 usd

if that keeps being the case, not even internet nor records shops will be an option for a low budget bastard like me,living in a country like mine with such economic crisis hitting even metal music bought through the internet plus not having decent record shops around sucks big time....i guess ill survive buying reissues from now on :(

I find that there are still a lot of bargains to be done on the internet, though not on ebay. Probably depends on what you're looking for...

That is the most important point.
Record hunting will ever be an expensive hobby if you only care for originals/first press (LPs, CDs...).

If you only care for the music than you can safe a lot of money by buying re-releases etc.

That's what I'm doing right now (and many others too, of course). :D

totally!, music is first always for me,but im not against spending some money in stuff like a Glacier or S.A. Slayer Mlps if they happen to be in my way....i love collecting vynil too, dont get me wrong, but when it comes to a point where its getting impossible, then it wont hurt for me getting the official reissues

Very very good French Metal.
"Passe temps" rules, but unfortunately the LP is rare as hell.
