I'd go for the support, and take the main acts for granted.

Those bands have always been called "The Big Four" in the Thrash Metal scene. Haven't you ever heard that term before in a review or one of the numerous Thrash Metal documentaries?

Two things when seeing that line-up. 'Faded glory' and 'cash-in'.

Agreed.
But then again, the same can be said for any remotely popular band that's still playing 20 year old material.

I've always thought that who ever chose the bands for Thrash Big Four must've been joking

I agree that other bands would be much more worthy of being among the greats of thrash, but it's based on commercial success anyway. Did that ever say much about the quality of the bands? Just look at Metallica and Slayer: they became "greater" after their best and most productive eras.

Don't know which one will be the next (probably Tankard) but I have to be happy to see that finally some true Heavy Metal is coming to Portugal this year in spite of the weak local scene and the peripheral situation to the rest of Europe. So far, scheduled bands to 2010 are Dark Forest, Pagan Altar (returning after a fantastic gig last year) and Atlantean Kodex later on. Together with some gigs by local bands Midnight Priest and Gargula it should be much better than the usual disgrace. Hopefully I'll also travel next door to Madrid to see Hirax and In Solitude. Can't complain.

Tomorrow SAINT VITUS, PRIESTESS, CENTURIONS GHOST AND BIGELF in Trix, Antwerp! Looking forward to this quite diverse line-up! Great venue, probably lots of familiar faces...all will be good.

Saw Master yesterday, in front of cca. 50 people ... Nothing special, but I'm sure that it would've been totally different with bigger crowd and especially with more active people in it, as the band was quite tight (although Paul was wasted as hell, haha).
Next one (not counting small local concerts) will probably be Omen and then KIT.
