Same here, 200 euro reserved records. I might have problems with the f&&cking hotel when things change, I've booked rooms for 2 nights and don't have a cancellation insurance; don't want to lose money dammit!

Well, let's think positive; hopefully the wind will blow in the right direction upcoming days.

Dan & Mordred: If you do decide to drive to KiT, I suggest starting on wednesday and spend the night at where I live. That way you don't have to drive the whole way in one go. If you drive from here on thursday morning you'll be in Königshofen by thursday night.

I have a spare room with 4 beds, but I must warn you: Niclas/Stormbringer/Destructor is a loud snorer!

There are talks that few mates would drive from Finland in case that airports are not opened but I don't think I can use that option. Too long route.

Some hopeful news this morning at least. Scientists see the first signs that the eruption might be over soon, however the ash cloud might linger several days even if the eruption stops. And test flights in the Netherlands tonight showed no signs of damage on the aircrafts.

@ khnud: Thanks. If we do drive we would have to do that. Driving from Stockholm in one go is just too much. We'll see if it comes to that. That would be in the case of German air territory being open so the festival does takes place, but the ash cloud still remains over Sweden so we can't go to Germany by plane.

Arlanda opens today at 8:00, and even though airport restrictions continue in other parts of Europe, I'm beginning to feel an increasing optimism.

British Airways, KLM and Lufthansa have all conducted test flights without any damage to the planes whatsoever.

I hope that everything gets back to normal + that they'll manage to transport all the people who are waiting for days now and catch in till the end of the week. When were the bands suppose to flight here? Thur-Fri and Fri-Sat or earlier?

Maybe they can fly short Germany-France etc routes without problems but getting from Finland to Germany is not looking good. Finnish airforces have made testflights and they reported that there are enough ash in the air to keep planes down. But money talks and...

(I'll start my trek to HOA next week.)

Airports opening in Sweden and Norway is just a sign of the wind changing. It's not blowing from the west like it did a few days ago, it's blowing more from the north so the ash cloud spreads more south from Iceland. Which means France, Germany, Benelux etc is still covered in ashes. And the volcano is still erupting.

Hi there guys!

I heard a rumor from some friends in Munich that all bands from US and Canada have canceled and Candlemass seeks ways to drive them to the festival... is any of this true or everyone starts to speak crap??

It's probably very close to the truth at least. All bands from US and Canada will have no other choice but to cancel if they can't fly to the festival which they by all probability won't be able to. Candlemass are indeed trying to arrange for driving to the festival.

From what I understand, ADX, Kalapacs, Tygers of Pan Tang and Savage Grace are confirmed, they don't need flights. I'm sure there are more that will be able to get there, but these are the ones I know. The festival also seems to have secured some replacement bands.

But we should wait for an official announcement from the festival. They are probably working very hard to solve things as good as possible.

I haven't read something about this yet. What I know is that some bands (CANDLEMASS, PARADISE LOST, ..) were forced to cancel their participation at the ROADBURN fest which took place in Holland this week-end.

English summary from official forum:

As far as I remember, the last 15 pages contained:

most people claim their loyalty to KIT no matter what happens, while the organizers already have at least 5 bands as a back-up solution. If I remember correctly, still there ain't no definite vulcan caused cancellations, however look at the news, and you can see how much is optimism and how much is dreaming. Some bands from Europe will travel different than by plane and promise to be there.
Everybody agreed, that it will be a very special KIT, no matter what's happening, everybody is looking foward to it (at least the fans said so, could imagine, the organizers have some other feelings in addition as well...)
