Guys, I don't know if you already know this, but there's a possibility that the german airport employees will go on a strike next week and that means that we won't be able to land on any german airport regardless of whether the atmosphere clears from the volcano ashes.
It's diabolically amazing how ALL these things occurred this particular week of the year.

Have The Gods forsaken us? :(
Just when I started feeling confident that the Vulcain-trouble should be solved until next weekend, this comes up.

It would be great if the Germaniacs here can keep an eye on this issue in the next few days..

Question is Monday 'till WHEN?, if it starts of course

Are you sure no flights will land anywhere in Germany in case of a strike? It might be only domestic ones or something. Last time there was a flight strike in Sweden I think all flights within Sweden were cancelled but flights went abroad and came from abroad.

That was my thought as well. The airports of interest here should be http://www.frankfurt-airport.com and http://www.hahn-airport.de/

If it's a general strike I suppose that all airports would be blocked. If it concerns certain airports only then we must wait to see if the airports of Frankfurt make an announcement that clarifies things. Either way we have to have to wait 'till Monday.

Considering the amount of people stranded on airports all over Europe due to the ash cloud, it would be very unpopular if airport personel started striking the same time as airports started opening again.

Honestly, I don't believe they care much if 100.000 passengers are blocked for another week or so.
Here in Greece air traffic controllers are blocking flights from & to Greece for 48 hrs, it's not a half-day strike or work stoppage or anything like that. They are simply 'closing' the airports for 2 days, as if most people can alternatively fly with their private jets or a helicopter instead of using the airport.

Yes, that's what it usually happens, but it always depends on which workers are on going on strike. I mean you just can't fucking block an entire airport for 45 months until your demands are met as if there are plenty of other ways to fly to your destination, they could have started with several hours of work stoppage, here they are just shutting down the whole system, don't know what to say man...

edit: that's my reply to mordred's post which is apparently deleted now

I deleted the post because I was speculating in a possible german flight strike, but in the context my post appeared it seemed like as I was talking about the greek one and was quite clueless. :)

Come on, of course there won't be a strike during a situation like this. Also it as announced, that if there would be a strike it would be only punctual and on selected locations, so all foreign flights would happen anyways.
But we will wait now what happens till sunday/monday and maybe till then all is solved or we have to make decisions what to do...

Yeah, sorry if I sounded a bit blunt myself, wasn't meant as an attack to your words, the situation is a bit different here

Anyway, I will be quite disappointed even if we finally make it to KIT and by getting there I realize that most of the corroseum fellas are absent, half the fun will be lost.
Honestly I hope we all find a way to get there.

Exactly. I really hope things will work for you & the rest of the Greek Horde.

More sucky news. I was looking forward to meet up. Call in sick!
