Trigger, do you vote for KKE?? Because speaking for propaganda with the way you are posting you make us laughing. What's wrong with 80's, money chicks & fame? And I take your statement as "true" as just a minority of bands had that luck...

Do you really care what I vote for?The way you ask about my voting makes me think that not only that you vote for a specific party, but that you can't think of why you vote of them. Tell me where exactly I said that the bands MADE money,I said they AIMED for money and fame and that's a fact! So,open your eyes(if not your mind) before making stupid-hasty conclusions.By the way, since when KKE acquired copyrights for the word propaganda?Nebuchadnezzar wrote:Trigger, do you vote for KKE?? First of all you didn't say "made" money NOR that they "aimed" for money. But will you answer what's wrong with that anyway?? As reality doesn't agree with us so "worst" for the reality! Do you have a problem if someone is professional musian? Will he survive with your good critics? If he would like to stay unknown he wouldn't play music but he would sitting like you and me on a pc.
Since it's birth?

Again, congrats for your lack of insight, but no thanks! And what a surprise, hijacking a thread that it totally indifferent to you proved you're off topic.I was only comparing the US scene as a whole back then to the rest of the world.Believe it or not,the main purpose of bands everywhere around was not making money in the same sense US bands did.I was referring to the past and not to professional musicians. If you read an interview in a fanzine or think about it for a while,it was like that.In other words, the bands that wanted to become famous around the globe were much less that those in the states. This is not against bands making money out of their music so stop the fiction, some people were talking about something seriously here,if you want to take part, please do read the thrad upfront and feel free to comment!

This is getting off-topic, but every file sharing subject is extremely prone to flame wars and similar behaviour, so this is to be expected.
Back to the issue at hand. We've all established that the METAL MERCHANTS LP is real. Follow up question was: is it any good? Here's my (humble) attempt to try and wrap my head around this mystery:
Now, the only ones capable of issuing at least short clips of the songs are either A) Someone who has it for sale or trade, or B) Someone who owns it and intends to keep it.
A) Since most sellers post clips nowadays (including the gentlemen posting in this thread), it is not a problem for them technically. So why won't sellers post clips of this particular LP? Either no one has it for sale (the picture John posted is an old one, and it might have been of the copy he sold already), or they believe that posting clips will decrease the demand (i.e. the record is bad). Remember that a seller's top priority is to make profit, which is achieved by maximizing demand for any item on sale. Sound clips usually increase demand, but only if the music is good.
B) Either the people who own this record have no interest in sharing it regardless of the musical quality (what some might call "elitism", see earlier posts in this thread), don't have the know-how on how to do it, or maybe they don't want to confess to purchasing a record for a huge price only to find out that it sucked. Also, see point A: If I spent $1000 on an unknown metal rarity, found it it was mellow AOR-ish crap and decide to trade it (or keep it if I'm a completist), there's no way I'd let the world know what it sounded like before trying to get rid of it. Remember, it's all about keeping the demand up. And if it sucks, demand invariably goes down, except if it's still unknown - with just a $1000 entry on Popsike.
As for METAL MERCHANTS, I just don't know. I'd love to hear it, even if it's just short clips. I don't think I deserve to hear it or any of that crap, but if it's to find its way into my want list, I need to know what I'm coughing up my hard earned cash for. Not all of us can be okilee-dokilees or Andi Presisigs, who can afford to pay any amount for a record based solely on the premise of not owning it.
So, to each his own, I guess. If I'm way offline with my thoughts / comments / ramblings here, feel free to comment.

Ok
The copy that was sold on ebay was not mine. It was Jim Cranford's and he did not have the ability to post clips at the time.
The copy I have in the pic's was mine and is long gone I sold it a few years back to another board member, So I do not have it to post a clip.
As for the record itself. Well it is very good. It is Metal and it is from TX.
Is it Great to me? No but I do not like Militia at all so....
But it is Power Metal and it is very good.. and worth the $$$ for the Rarity and the Music

"I am NOT a collector"
Re: METAL MERCHANT
Even I with my poor english language can find some info about METAL MERCHANT.I think it have conection with MILITIA somehow because I found this comment on MySpace posted by MILITIA guitar player :metaloren wrote:Hi, not as stupid thing as you think! Are you absolutely sure that Metal Merchant is a band from Texas? If affirmative, how do you know it?doomedplanet wrote:of course the Metal Merchant lp is real, what a stupid thing to say.
Why not go to Texas and dig for the record if you want it, who knows, you might find one....
I ask you this because the person who uploaded the band to metal-archives told me literally "as for the origin...I learned from somewhere that band was from Texas...".
So, Is Metal Merchant a band from Texas or not???
References, please!
Also he mentions his FIRST BAND in interview located Here so location is more than known.

Am I out off topic? You insulted everyone here saying about "brain damages" etc who don't agree with your non-realistic tactic to share everything. Not to mention the racist comment about US citizens. When we are talking about the right of any collector to share everything he likes to do here's the attack about Americans. In any case, we'll never learn what do you mean each time as it's a usual (c_ist) tactic to jump from one subject to another. Don't freak out, your mind is safe in it's cage. I asked you what's wrong with it about money, women, fame & rock & roll & I've got no answer. Why don't you say that you want to get some of those & you are jealous of? So when you're ready share your rare records but don't accuse anyone else who doesn't share everything he possibly has.Unfortunately we're living in a capitalistic world & you have to accept it (difficult). All the other things are stories for small kids. Speak to the wall.Trigger wrote:Again, congrats for your lack of insight, but no thanks!
So, "on topic" :
each collector has the ability to share some stuff. If he would like to share his rare stuff it's fine! If he doesn't want to do that it's fine as well!! Noone could force him to do that with crappy and false accusations about elitism or anything else. I agree with Khnud. The most times a very rare title could be very crap. When you share the music to the masses then the price drops down definitely. But there are many collectors who they collect just rare stuff so they will buy the title. Elitists? Maybe...

Man, looking at my post above, makes me think of Helm in his glory days here on the Corroseum, i.e. over-analyzing everything. Somehow, I feel that some of the "good old" spirit has left this place, or maybe I'm getting old...

See? That's the thing. I don't think sonebody can "deserve" or not to listen to a certain kind of music neither to read a book or whatever. And I'm not saying it should be given to me for free, it's not about me it's about making music available for ANYBODY who wants to listen to it, regardless if it's me or someone else. In the particular case of the record that started this discussion I am not even interested in it. But of course, you can't see things out of a selfish perspective.Rockadelic wrote:Cochino wrote:I What I'm talking about is the people that could do it without any big effort but doesn't just out of that shitty selfish attitude,
Besides music, what else in life do you feel should be given to you for free because you "deserve" it??

Stop......please.Cochino wrote: Now, this guy doesn't listen to Metal and doesn't want to have anything to do with it, but I do. So, who deserved those tapes better?
Nothing in life is free.....not for you....not for anyone.
And you're sounding mad foolish.
