I don't remember who said it some time ago, but there should be a new batch of bootlegs with that matrix code (which basicly 'fix' the only clear difference of the previous bootleg)

Well all the Americ Disc/Disque Americ CDs had a very distinctive font and barcode pattern in the matrix, they're pretty easy to spot. No bootlegger could reproduce that.

I have one of those new shotgun justice bootlegs and the matrix is really similar to the original but the design is completely different and if you knew what an original disque americ matrix looks like you could easily tell the difference.

This is why I asked for a scan...

It's the only real way to be 100% certain.

Varathron/Necromantia Split CD - boot?

Post by Divine Victim »

Has 'The Black Arts/The Everlasting Sins' ever been officially released on CD?

According to M-A it was "released only on LP in 1992. Black Power Records. (BPR-004)". I've seen a CD version on the label 'Unisound'... I take it this is to be avoided?

Hi! I am sure it's not bootleg. It was just a second edition in 1994 and first was LP on Black Power. Here's official proof:

P.S: Please, don't trust metal-archives as 100% infallible source, always look somewhere else too.

Does the later Roadracer CD version of "Morbid Visions" sound different/better than the original New Renaissance release?

I could send you some sample tracks from both if you want to do a comparison.

Thanks, but first I'd just like to know if the Roadracer version w/ EP is remastered or sounds different. I have the NR version and I am not very happy with the sound, thus wondering if it gets any better (maybe the 1997 version is worth giving it a try?)

A scan will follow in the next days!

Does anyone have the matrix number of the original Hirax (made in Japan) and Deathrow - Life Beyond?

Thanks!

I have both of these.

Which album cover version are you looking for specifically regarding the Deathrow CD?

No problem.

The Hirax Matrix is "682". Like many of these mid-80's CD's that were pressed in Japan for the US market, they contain only a simple 3 number combination but the key is that the text is stamped into the actual center of the disc.

Regarding the Deathrow, I unfortunately can't help you much here as the version I have is the first alternative cover version, but like many other West Virginia pressings the Matrix should be several stars (*) in it. I think there is also an infamous "USDM" bootleg floating around so that should be something to look out for.

If you are still looking for the Hirax, I have an extra copy kicking around. It's a cut-out that I picked up from a local shop for $2.00 and would be more then willing to let it go for a cheap trade.

On a semi-non-urgent question (it is kinda urgent) does anybody know how to tell apart the legit CD editions of the two Coven albums ("Blessed Is The Black" and "Death Walks Behind You") from the bootleg editions? Any particular detail I should look for?
