Reborn Classics is a bootleg label, although the CD's are still quite sought after by collectors because of how early this series made vinyl only albums available on CD for the first time back in '91-'93. They are also quality releases as far as bootlegs go. I personally don't own a copy of this because the first couple Cirith Ungol albums have since seen official CD re-issues from both One Way and Metal Blade.

I bought the Cirith Ungol “One Foot in Hell” reborn classic CD back in those days. The quality is really sub par if my memory serves. Never bought other RC releases again ever since.

As far as bootlegs go (that aren't identical copies of an already existing legit release) these CD's are decent quality with full inserts etc.

Not that I'm pro-bootlegging but you have to take into consideration that at the time ('91-'93) when these CD's were put out none of these albums previously existed on CD format and therefore the layouts had to be done by hand as there were no previous CD versions to copy/mimic.

The CD’s may be inferior to some of the more modern legitimate re-issues but they were all released much later and I’m sure the labels had a lot more to work with.

I like how he goes on to say that these are affordable in comparison to the originals and then turns around and charges $15.00 each when they cost him a maximum of $2.00-$3.00 each to make. I call that making profit.

I recently bought a copy of Rigor mortis- rigor mortis cd original press on capitol records. The booklet and back insert are slightly water damaged and a little wavy due to it. But then I checked ebay and saw that the seller wikking had also sold a copy that had the same slight water damage to the booklet and insert. http://cgi.ebay.com/RIGOR-MORTIS-Same-C ... 2c5a1add25 But I didn't buy my copy from wikking I got it off an amazon uk seller. I was wondering if this is a common flaw with this title? Does anybody else have a copy that has slight water damage or is it just pure coincidence?

I got this promo CD called D Project with Johan Längqvist singing. It's some kind of mellow heavy pop/soft rock rather than anything metallic. I got it from a friend who's band was connected to the same management/studio or whatever back in the late nineties. It's from 1998 and I don't think they released anything officially. Does anybody here know more about this? Is there a demand for these kind of curiosities?

I know there are a couple of Drowned Productions releases that had this problem.. such as Purtenance & Altar/Cartilage split, most copies you see of these two titles have wavy (water-damaged) inlays.. must be a batch of CD's that got water-damaged in the store room or at the airport..???
Or were the inlay inserts manufactured too small perhaps..?

Both my copies of Rigor Mortis were received sealed/mint. I doubt a label as big as Capitol would have their stock getting wet in some dilapidated warehouse/storeroom. Probably just coincidence.

My copy is fine as well.

On the back of the D.A.M.- human wreckage cd I just got, someone crossed out the word drums next to Andy Elliot and wrote bass, do you think this was done by the record company or the band or just the original owner. This is the German pressing of the disc not the us or uk press. I ask the same question for my original UK pressing of Wasps- inside the electric circus cd, which in the booklet and back insert has the song the rock rolls on marked out with a sharpie.

Interesting question, I know some labels actually did this on re-prints.
An example is my "Obus - Poderoso Como El Trueno" CD, on the back cover in the copyright information something has been "erased" by a black marker, I think it is a phone number.
First I thought it was something the previous owner did but all the photos and scans I looked at for this CD had that same part "erased".
Now I am not saying every time something has been "erased" or corrected with a marker it's the labels doing but I know it has been done by some labels, one of them being Serdisco (Label that released Obus).

I'm guessing a previous owner somewhere down the line did this. They were probably just doing self-corrections, as it's not uncommon that there are printing errors or typos on CD inserts from time to time.

Could anyone with an original Razor Shotgun Justice help me with the next question. I just received this CD today and the matrix says: 708/ FDP3094 DISQUE AMERIC CANADA in mirror image? Is that with all the original pressings in mirror image? Or is it a bootleg?

I can then tell you with certainty if it's legit or not.

Sounds legit, the bootlegs say only "FPD 3094" afaik.
