Not having Saxon in a top 5 is perfectly understandable. But no Iron Maiden or Angel Witch? For shame!

Every bloody thread resurrected can't be about the olde scene of Country X, so let's use this one. This review was fucking HARD to write since it's such a personal and important album for me, but finally it's added to the site, thus completing the original Sarcofagus discog:

..though I'll probably add the EXCITER 12" soon just to be completely complete.

One of my favorite albums for that year for sure, and somewhere on the top echelon of all time Heavy Metal favorites too. I'd describe it as "proto Mercyful Fate", since it has the same ability of taking classic Hard Rock and Heavy Metal riffs and somehow turn them into something utterly dark and menacing but in a fashion that's much more rough and amateurish (in a good way) than that of the Danish band. I'd go as far as to say that it's the only album I feel comfortable comparing to 80s Mercyful Fate without feeling like I'm reaching too hard.

Yup, proto-MF as well as proto-CF are good descriptors for sure. One fascinating aspect of the band and especially EoD is how litte they sound like any other NWO*HM act from around this time.
