I guess my reaction would be more or less the same if it were for some of their later albums, but the debut is what I'd call melodic metal and it is also a cool one. It is catchy but it doesn't get too mellow or schmaltzy.

Yes, their first album isn't bad but I don't think it has its place in the 50 top-albums of the 80's, maybe in the top-200 but once again it's just a matter of taste !

how could you even begin to compare Autopsy to Manilla Road? so I went by year instead of 'most favoritest first, teh loosars last'. maybe that says something more interesting about my tastes? I also took some liberties with the counting, might be "one or two" over.

Not metal even in a broader sense, but both are milestones.

well, you could argue here. both are more metallic than a lot of what went on in the metal camp at the times. and heavy as hell, no doubt.

but where's the cheating? besides the obvious demos and EPs.. edit: ok, you edited that list down. well, I can't help it. the album is an ideal, but the sounds you love don't always end up on albums. I can live with that, as long as I get to hear them

I guess my places 51-200 would be pretty much on the same level as places 30-50 when it comes to my feelings for it... there's just too much good stuff. Also my list was not carefully thought out. I haven't got enough stamina nor firm belief in my capabilities.

I'm too lazy now to put a list here but combining Mordred and Patapyhysican's lists would pretty much make my list including masterpieces like Coven "Worship New Gods", Leatherwolf's debut, Culprit's ultimate masterpiece and Abominations of Desolation raw version and Satan "Court in the Act".
