What the fucketi-fucketi-fuck? Now I got to pull the ol' Killen-album out of the shelf for a third (or fourth)
time - in search of what must be a very well hidden tea spoon of quality (even the slightest fragment of curiosity would be welcomed). The last time I looked I found absolutely nothing. Any tips of where to find it? What am I missing. I guess I got the album relatively cheap (30-35 euro) some ten years ago. But back then I didn't look at it as cheap - I had high hopes when putting down the needle but it sure failed to deliver. Still kind of like the album though (despite the dubious musical contents).

I like Druid! Would really like to drop names like Beowulf, for the Angel Witchyness (subconsciously doomy) on their great Slice of Life LP and Granmax, the song Prince of the Southern Ice is like early Saxon on Black Sabbath pills - but they may be too much Hard Rock and not enough Metal.
edit: linguistical correction

You're all lost causes
Seriously though, when I first heard KILLEN it wasn't that rare or pricey. I got the song "Victima" on some mix tape years ago and just it blew me away. A totally original, dark & doomy sound that you seldom hear from a US act. Their one weakness would be the musicianship, which agreeably is way below the usual US standard, but the actual songs are nothing short of amazing. The chorus to "Stricken by darkness" proves my point.

I dig Druid and the "Vampire Cult" album. The Erlking wrote:Lots of great names mentioned and KILLEN was a good call. They're awsome.
But isn't there anyone who cares about Druid? I think Four Curses slays! Especially "The Robber"! I can see how some would dislike Vampire Cult but I like it anyway.. Just not as much as the EP..
I paid good money for my CD copy and don't regret it.
I like having variety in my collection and albums that are "odd ducks" so to speak, as there are times when you just want to throw on something different for a change.

Don't forget the hugely lacking vocals...DaN wrote:You're all lost causes![]()

This is a release that I think even the fans of this band can admit to being below average, but it falls into that "charm" category.

Wasn't "City Beneath the Surface" the lead track on that EP? That song has quite the doom metal intro.DaN wrote:Funny, I seem to remember a very old review of the AVATAR 7" (in Metal Forces maybe?) where they were indeed referred to as "Doom Metal".mordred wrote:Savatage!
