No, it's not bullshit, Tobi told me so in a PM, ask him if you don't believe me; which you don't, and later today I will have a look if I have the message anywhere. Axe had promised Tobi a bunch of LP:s, I was going to get one of them, he was sent one copy. I did NOT simply write saying I want an LP, I can't stand that type of behaviour, I was polite and talked about their tape I'd heard, but no, no reply, while at the same time he was corresponding with others.

I still see NO REASON why anyone shouldn't upload some of their music.

I see no reason to not upload a record that went out on stores and is therefore product ment for mass consumption. But isn't it the case that regardless of whether you like their attitude, if a band doesn't SELL their music, then it is not - yet - product and as such you have no grounds on which to facilitate its circulation? If I drew a picture for a friend and gave it to him as a gift, would you find it equally moral to take it and photocopy it and put it online for whomever? Gifts are not products, are they? Just leave them be, you don't have to agree with their choices to respect them.

People are saying they'll make copies for whoever wants them, so why not make it easier and upload it???????????????????????????????????????????

If everybody agrees that ToM are not making limited releases, but in fact they're sending gifts to whoever they like, i personally will leave them be. It's only a band that plays for 50 ''friends'' and therefore of zero interest for me.

Because it makes it harder for some bootleggers to cash in on them.

And it's a lot harder to upload a tape and vinyl than it is a CD... not a lot of people have the equipment to do so.

Again collecting metal has never been easy all the years I've been doing it. If you want it bad enough, you can get it.

Yes I think you hit the nail on the head there Iordan. That's pretty much the reason they do what they do.

Okay, let me clarify: I offered to dub a copy to everyone here on this board - people I've been chatting and discussing with and know they want it for themselves. I'm not going to dub it for anyone I dont know/havent seen before. Think of it as me sharing a demo with friends.

Now that I think of it, no e-mails, please PM me if interested so I'd know easier who you are.

P.S. My offer has been on for almost 24 hours and NO ONE has requested a dub so far, so I guess everyone concerned is after the product, not the music after all, and I cannot help you there.

Oh my, what an eye-opening experiment ToM are conducting, and I didn't even realize we are all part of it until today, unbelievable.

Hell of a lot of words in this thread & be damned if I have time to read them all so at the risk of asking something already answered here goes:

Are these boys from Canada or USA? All reports have said Canada but a package I received had a return address in NY_USA, I once tried to send a return package in appreciation but got it back with a 'not at this address' stamp. Would have preferred they didn't add an address to parcels rather than mask it like that as I got burned $20 on postage by playing their game.

..never had a reply to my emails either as it happens - well except for a 7" & patch in the post...

@ Stormspell: I'll take a dub of that demo if the offer still stands, their music is great and with communications near impossible I'm not too proud to take a second generation copy.

If your package came from NEW YORK, that's strange...

Because If I remember correctly, I had a couple packages come from Washington (the state), but I think it was close to the Canadian boarder.

I believer they're Canadian...

Oh i see...now we've become a part of the rotten underground and ToM's brilliant experiment. I'm very sorry to say that, but it's the same rotten underground that supports today's small independent labels who are trying to do a decent job.

Why don't you PM mp3s to those who are interested? (Don't count me in) I don't understand how a dub can prevent the bootlegging of their stuff and some mp3s can't.

Btw, 2 friends of mine already sent an e-mail to the band, all copies are gone, but they said they will keep them in mind for their future releases. I'll be damned if they do so, but let's wait and see.

I'm not going to rip anything to mp3 coz I don't want to bear the moral burden when the thing pop all over the net. I'm pretty certain the band does not have any problem whatsoever with people trading it the old traditional way as they seem to be analog dudes. So I have no problem dubbing a tape, but do have problem uploading it in digital format.

Here is the e-mail I just received from Axe few minutes ago. I asked him if he would be interested in having a non-profit promotional ToM CD I could finance and give for free with my outgoing distro orders.

"Your idea about a free release through your label is interesting, but already so many people are writing that we cannot keep up. We are hoping for now to save up enough money to manufacture enough of the 2009 LP to send one free to everyone who has ever written us, and we will see if that goal is realistic! I hope so! Until then, we will save up money. Regardless, for the moment we really enjoy too much being able to share our releases for free with our friends and contacts, and keeping it all in great analogue sound, so we don't want to change anything for now. Thanks regardless for your great offer!"

As you can see those dudes are clearly enjoying having their releases the old analog way only, and will do their best to hook as many people as possible with their next free LP.

So that's it man, you can hate them for being analog dudes not interested in having a CD release, but I think it is really up to their own choice and I certainly can respect that.

Good that Axe clarified a bit this releasing policy. Hopefully they afford to make more copies for hungry fans. I just cant believe they afford to all this shit, to record, to press, to mail...

Yeah, they said its cheaper to mail in US than in Canada.

Not that it matters much, but the way I see it; if a recording is uploaded and available for everyone to download, there is little if any profit to be made from pressing a bootleg. If it's only available as a trade cd-r or tape that only a few know how to obtain on the other hand, the bootleg potential should be much bigger since more people should consider buying it.
