*Interesting fact:
Vauxdvihl feature Fab Gallina brother of Renato Gallina of (prog) doom gods Disembowelment!

i see them from time to time as they live near me, they are still making music.

The Sentinel:
I see the Vauxdvihl CD all the time around here on my travels, I don't know about an official release...? the band put it out on their own years ago.
Buy it here:

So basically Vanden Plas,Lion's Share and that Gathering of 8 Norwegian Prog Metal Bands compilation, haha! Lion's Share are OK but if we start mentioning such bands in a topic that started with Xerxes we're somehow derailed...

Buzzard (US) fits the style, although more experimental/avant-garde. The last two-thirds of their only album is entirely instrumental.

Very interesting. Progressive yet groovy, thrashy yet... not thrashy at all. Strange. They remind me of Mind Over Four. There was a scene for this sort of music for a brief period it seems, huh

What about EXISES? Dutch progressive metal band. I have no idea what the self titled debut from 1987 is like but I have their "Reternity" CD from 1996 and find it quite enjoyable.

Also, The Last Things and their "Circles and Butterflies" CD from 1993. Quite an interesting listen too.

Last Things, how did I forget this mini-jewel?! Check it out ASAP guys and download Blackkout's "Ignorance Of Man" demo wherever you find it!

And yes there was a "scene" for this kind of stuff from '88 to '91 I guess,Faith No More and Jane's Addiction played a pivotal role in that. By the way The Beyond's drummer later went on to play with Therapy? I'm not asking, the question mark is part of their name you fool, hah! :)
