malegys wrote:Not of "rams head/when the screams come" there isn't.That only came out in 79, with a red label "high Vaultage" label. The promo you mention is from 1974 & contains "Human hurricane" & that label was Boffo Socko.
Just to clarify:
The '79 single on High Vaultage contains Rams Head b/w When the Screams come. Some come in a bootleg pic sleeve with the band's pic on it (the sleeves are not original, they were pressed up by someone else later on).
The Boffo Socko single is from '73 and contains Hurricane b/w Earth Flight. It's not a promo TMK, and 200 copies were pressed. These songs are from the Bias recording session. Look for a pinkish-purple label.
There's a '74 single that is a promo; it contains a cover of Under My Thumb b/w When the Screams come. Pressed in 100 copies. One song is from the National Sound Warehouse session, the other was recorded at Track studio. Orange label with info stamped on.
Those are the only three singles released under the Pentagram name during the 70s. The band's 1st single was released under the name MACABRE. 1000 were pressed, but half the copies have the band's name misspelled MACBRE. This one contains Be FOrewarned b/w Lazy lady.
All of the singles are hard to find but not insanely expensive, at least IMO
Hope that helps!

Ah, yes it was the '74 promo I was referring to. Forgot it was "Under My Thumb", not "Ram's Head".
Anyways the warehouse '73 rehearsal version of Ram's Head released on "First Daze Here" is the supreme version, and was probably the heaviest thing ever recorded, at that point.

Glad to help, those singles are easy to get confused.
There's a cool rehearsal recording done at Columbia Studios in September, 1975 that contains another version of 'When the Screams Come'. It's played a bit faster than other versions I've heard. The session also includes 'Run My Course' and a great take of 'Wheel of Fortune'. Only place I've seen this session is on the '1972-1979 vol 2' bootleg from Peace Records. I know there's a lot of consternation regarding those Peace Records releases; as soon as someone offers a legit album with the Columbia session on it, I'll be glad to buy and hype the official product
Here's a list of various recordings of 'When the Screams Come' I've come across:
-national sound warehouse session, 6/74
-high voltage single 1979
-bias studio session 3/73
-columbia studio session, 9/75
-sound box session, '78 (maybe the same version as on the HV single)
-rehearsal session on bobby's 20th birthday, 12/21/73
-version 7 (from a boot called '1972 Macabre'; may just be the Bias studio version with poor sound quality)
-LP day of reckoning
-live 78 keg full of dynamite
-live 78 Louie's Rock City VA (aka High Voltage Live in Spotsylvania)
-live 83 death row recording
Sorry, I'm a Ram Nerd

There's a guy over at the Hellride Music forum who has a ton of early 70's unreleased Pentagram material. Rehearsals, demos, live sessions etc. I'm guessing there's material enough for several more "First Daze" albums.

None as usual!
I attended a local record fair yesterday resulting in no metal at all: Heart - Dog and Butterfly, Jo Jo Gunne - Bite Down Hard and Steve Walsh - Schemer Dreamer was what I got with me...

Sounds good then, I was only familiar with the "To The Ends Of The World" and "Where The Legend Began" and took this also to the package to fill the space.
