Yeah well, that's how the Euro branch of Power Metal is...

If you want darker, more Thrash influenced Power Metal, there is always the US scene.

PARABELLUM - Tempus Mortis
GRAF SPEE - Reincarnacion

while realizing the great idea I had for today: sorting, organising and labeling all mp3-CDRs + cases I have lying around.. which turns out to be a greater pain in the ass than expected..

I don't think that all euro power metal = happy choruses and flowery synth shit. What about bands like Running Wild, Steel Angel, Varvar, Angus, Stormwitch for example. I think both US and European scenes were great back in 80s untill came the light-weight bands influenced by Helloween's Keeper Of The Seven Keys albums and ruined it all in the old country. And I'm not saying that every band influenced by Helloween automaticly sucks (I love Heavens Gate for example) but I think that the "keepers" played a big role in turning euro power metal to abba metal.

All of the dissonance, none of the DEATH. Better than I'd feared, mind.
