I was not aware of this band until two months ago but I enjoy what I hear so far.
Do check out the first record 'Tides' along with the ep 'Forever'. They're top10 material for me.

I could never get into the earlier albums either.
This one may grow on me though???
Oh yeah be patient with it, if it's anything like older material, there is some strange (in a good way!) Mercyful Fate influence where riffs appear unintuitive or are harmonized at odd intervals, they like that sort of thing. It clicks later on! Do listen to 'Tides' as well though if you get the chance.

I sort of agree, but this is still a formula example of European Power Metal. From the song structures, to the large use of double-bass drumming, to the keys, which by the way are boarder-line for me because they almost drown out the guitars and in some spots are the dominating instrument.
Not a top shelf pick from the sub-genre, but it's nice to throw on every once in a while for some variety.
