The ever present possibility of finding some 1984 mixed styles compilation LP dirt cheap in a flea market and picking it up because there's some unknown four piece with semi-long hair and moustaches on the cover making you think they (at best) might be in the vein of early Saga or maybe playing semi-hard Southern Rock or whatever. And then safely at home you put the needle in the groove and you realize they, in fact, are in the vein of... Angel Witch!

Though I've noticed that the low-budget mixed compilation-phenomena is more common in certain countries than others. Maybe an issue worthy of its own thread?

The ability of a good Metal soundtrack to speed up even the most mundane of chores, whether it be work, DIY or whatever.
Never mind Duracell batteries, metal helps you go faster and last longer.
(I'm gonna put this to the test later, by painting my bathroom, so far i've got RAZOR, FALCON, SWORD and SIR LORD BALTIMORE picked out as my soundtrack. Wish me luck)

It certainly helps mundane chores more enjoyable, but I find it makes them take much longer - cos I get too distracted during big choruses our air-guitar passages heh... and putting a playlist together if I'm far away from the turntable and using mp3s makes the job twice as long!bigfootkit wrote:465 :
