Rob- thanks for the clarification. I didn't look at the box in detail and I don't know the history of this release. You're absolutely right that it takes some albums a lot longer to see a vinyl pressing than others.
BTW, did you ever confirm that 'Die Healing' was booted on vinyl sometime in the past? I know some folks alluded to seeing it on vinyl long before the BBTAD edition, but no one ever confirmed a boot pressing exists.

No, it's working, it was Cirith Ungol's "Paradise lost" LP sold for 129 US $ + 32 $ postage!!!!
That's almost the same insanity that happened to the old Manilla Road LP's like "Crystal logic" that you could get regulary for +-30 $ once and now almost crossing the 100 $ border! I wonder who are these guys to pay that fortune for such "ordinary vinyls" ... they are far beyond being rare or something. Where will it end?

Re: the Cirith Ungol bootleg- that one does push/exceed $100 sometimes, so $130 (the current bid) is high but not insanely high. Boots sell for > $100 all the time.

Re: 'insane' prices for 'not so rare records'- I was discussing this with someone just a few days ago. These prices seem crazy to us old farts who have been collecting for 20+ years, but there are 2 things that we tend to forget:
1- There is an entire new generation who wants these albums and (currently at least) wants them on vinyl. Thus, Demand is very high currently.
2- It's not 1990 anymore when you could go to a store/record fair and find this stuff with ease. 15 years ago I could walk in local used stores and buy any of the first 5 'Maiden albums for a few bucks. Hell, they probably had multiple copies I could choose from. But all that stuff has been bought up over the years. It's gone into collections or into the trash. Remember, there was a long stretch there in the 90s-00s when stores could barely give vinyl away, so a lot of it was junked. Around '97 I was buying any vinyl item in the store- including new & sealed albums- for $3 and the manager was AMAZED I wanted the stuff.

Thus, the obscure stuff that used to be readily available (Black Hole, Mistreater, Amethyst, etc) is all long gone and now demands big prices. The less rare but more popular stuff (Iron Maiden, Mercyful Fate, Venom, Metallica, Slayer, Manilla Road, etc) is a bit tougher to find than it once was and the current demand is huge. These bands leapt the generation gap. Look at how many repressings stuff like Manila Road is now getting. We've owned those records for 15 years or more, but younger kids are getting their first crack at 'em and they're buying 'em as fast as they can.

Old collectors often fall into this trap of not realizing how the market changes once they own a copy of something. It happens to me too. Some of the 'common' albums still on my want list should, IMO, be readily available any day of the week for < $20. But one of them is only getting listed about once a month on ebay and is selling for > $30. Two others have shown up once in the past year and sold for >$60.

Even just 5 years ago we were all complaining about how vinyl is so unappreciated and how kids need to learn about the 'real' metal of old and quit listening to crappy mp3s. Well, we got our wish, and the spike in prices is indicative of the current popularity of metal vinyl. I'll be interested to see if/how long this lasts; call me cynical, but I wouldn't be surprised if Vinyl is just the latest fad and a few years from now stores are back to trying to give vinyl away while everyone has moved on to the next trendy thing

Totally agree with the whole post, but this paragraph is exactly what i am thinking of. The same situation now with old school death metal cds. I am think it's just a vogue (hope i expressed my thoughts through a correct word in english) on exact sub-genre. I am sure cds that was printed in big (if we compare to real obscure self-releases) quantities on major lables were not so expensive in the past like in our days.
Examples:
Monstrosity "Imperial Doom"
Therion "Of Darkness"
Seance "Fornever Laid To Rest"
Necrophobic "The Nocturnal Silence"
and, of course, smaller labels, but still far from self-financed releases:
Morbid Saint "Spectrum Of Death"
All Protector discography
both Assassins on Steamhammer etc.
Sorry for offtopic, i can't say about old vinyls, because i was a kid when you (old farts) bought them in local shops, but parallels is obvious.

But if you remember back when you was young, were you able to spend that money on just a single record? Sometimes it seems to me people have absolutely no relation to the value of money anymore. I want that thing and I pay any money just to get it. No matter if that pile of money appears "absurd" or not.
Every collector knows about the actual value of a special record but then there are 2 let's call them "newcomers" who raise each other in a bidding war to the triple of the value and now that record has reached a value far beyond good and evil just beacuse there have been 2 guys who had no clue?? While the seller wants that once paid price now and don't even dare to reduce future copies. It's ridiculous ...
