Metal box sets often sell for quite high prices, which I find a little strange. Long-time fans already have the individual albums, and if newer fans can afford to pay that much for the box, they could afford to just buy the original albums instead. Box sets can have some nice packaging and neat extras, but as far as the music goes they're often just glorified reissues of the band's albums. So who's paying so much for them, and why? Are there really that many fans who are completist enough in their collecting mentality to pay hundreds for a box of albums they already own original pressings of?

Coloured vinyl in a metal box is pretty much guaranteed to bring big money in today’s gimmick market.

Alan, actually this release isn't a reissue. It came out with the 1st pressings of both versions contained therein. I believe of the 500 press, 350 were the regular versions and the 150 were part of the boxset.

My bad. I figured it was an actual tin box. Either way, you can't deny that people go crazy for coloured vinyl.

Sometimes a record is released in both a coloured and black version, and the black is rarer. It's hilarious when some people still pay more for the coloured.

Rob- how did the box set come out at the same time as both albums? Was the box set part of the first VINYL pressing for these two albums, but they came out on cd at an earlier date? IMO that means they're not really the first pressing of the album, just the first time they're offered on the vinyl format, which could be a long time after the material was first recorded and pressed.
Nice item and great records regardless. But at that price I'll just keep playing my not-so-kvlt cd copies of 'em.
Prowler- there are at least 3 copies in collector's hands, not 2. And this copy is VG- and cracked. I repeat: $761 for a cracked record. No offense to those involved in the transaction, but $761 for a cracked record blows my mind. I know it's severely rare, but it's also severely damaged. I would love to have this record, and I'd pay three shit-loads for a copy, but I personally cannot see paying any significant amount for a cracked record, no matter how rare it is. But that's just my opinion and there are no sour grapes here. The seller was honest in the description and the starting price was low w/ no reserve, and the buyer is a well-known collector who knows what he's doing. I expect they're both happy with the transaction and I hope the buyer enjoys the item and that it plays fine for him for many years to come.

Still, it's a crazy-rare US 12" private press, so it should command a big price as long as folks can confirm that it's an original and not a boot like the Solar Eagles from a year or two ago. Not interested personally; I'm not one to pay hundreds for a record I've never heard. If you want a lot of my money, you have to have a record that is pretty damn rare and that I like

It is difficult to counterfeit the ringwear of the cover. So it must be old.

Either way, I would like to just get the chance to listen to this record.
I think someone posted a few second clip of one song here a while back but I'd like to hear the whole thing.

It looks old but for me there are a few things I don't like about the seller
This is the only thing hes selling
He has poor feedback and has only been on for 10 months,
And a real pet peave is he has used a Black background for everything he has sold, Why change with this one.
Also this is by far the biggest record he's sold as he has started everything else for $9.99 and only brock $100 one time. And hes never sold a metal record before.
Again I am not saying there is anything Wrong with this person or record or auction, Just these are the reasons I wouldn't be bidding.

Yes. It is the diehard part of the pressing. If you check the cover art, they are the improved versions over the cd version. As is very typical these days, a lot of vinyl comes out at different times than the cd. they didn't get a vinyl release for a few years, which isn't long if you think about how long it took Die Healing to come out on wax...These albums of course were normal priced when they were released, what, 5-6 years ago now?
