I'm hoping the new The Vision Bleak will be out this year, and it will be the best album of 2007.
The new Candlemass record was just a tad better than the last one, but still nothing monumental. Leif is going through the motions, it seems to me. This goes from a guy that travelled from grc to swe to catch the 25th anniversary show so I'm not just saying that, my heart bleeds to say it.

The new Trouble is such a dissapointment. I don't know why I had any hopes for it, but I did. Boring, uninspired stuff. I am also not to happy with the new King Diamond. Pretty OK, but too melodic and unspectacular for a KD album. I thought it would be good, because lately every second KD album has been really good. Spider's Lullabye, Voodoo and Abigail II were ace, while the ones inbetween were not as good. Sadly, the new one is not really better than The Puppet Master.
Instead, I keep enjoying the hell out of the new Candlemass. Seriously, this is as good as the reunion album, which was already amazing. Candlemass just keeps being a synonyme for quality. Unbelievable.
Meanwhile, I can't wait to get the new Doomsword. The new song on their myspace sounds mindblowing, I'm sure the album will be killer. But I have to little money and too many new records to listen to to get it yet.
And I am waiting for the new Atlantean Kodex to turn up at my doorstep. It's gonna slay. In the end, 2007 will be a good year for metal.

I'm sitting here listening to SLOUGH FEG's "Atavism" CD for the umphteenth time and still won't click for me
Why - why - why??? They do everything right, i.e. they do what they've always done - churn out top-quality, original and epic pieces of Metal pound for pound and yet it goes in one ear out you mother. "Traveller" and "Down Among The Deadmen" had me in a vice after the first 2 spins but this one, it just doesn' move me maahn...
What I need to know from those of you who've heard it is:
How does "Hardworlder" compare to the last 3 SLOUGH FEG albums? Have The Weirdos gone down in the swamp of repetition forever? SAY IT ISN'T SO!!!

Holy shit, new Manes! Haven't heard yet, hope it's good. (Here's where a grumbly chorus of people complain about Manes in a 'best heavy metal releases' thread)
Atavism isn't hm... I wouldn't say it's their best, I also prefer Down Among The Deadmen. I think the problem with Slough Feg isn't that they don't write or play well or with conviction, it is that the actual material they come up with doesn't flow well. So you're left with quirky songs full of 'good parts' but whose overal structure doesn't mesh, and naturally only a few of them will then click with the listener.

To add to the list:
Scariot - Momentum Shift (quite good prog power thrash, love those eastern scale riffs, nice surprise)
Megadeth - United Abominations (surprisingly not bad at all; their albums usually stuck in my ears, while this I can actually listen to ... smoothly)
Mortal Sin - An Absence Of Faith (cannot reach the first two but decent enough for 2007).
