I first saw Motorhead on the tv show The Young Ones. I've liked them ever since. It's not essential to get all their albums but I think the first few are damn essential. Some amazing stuff on those, No Class being a particular favourite song.
I've never been too pushed about lyrics when it comes to a band like Motorhead. It's music that's designed more with attitude in mind than any great philosophy.
I just think it's good, fun music.

I love Motorhead with passion. They were one of the most important bands for me growing up and listening to music. My first ever live concert experience was Motorhead when I was 15. It was akin to losing my virginity to a porn star. My ears were ringing for 8 months afterwards. The concert was heaven! Whoever said they are better live than on record, I would agree. I still think Sacrifice is an underrated album though. So killer.

One of my biggest regrets is that I never got to see the Kilmister/Clarke/Taylor lineup. Saw them in 1983 with Robbo but that was a bit different by then. What can you say Tons of classic albums, hundfreds of classic songs and one of the best live bands going. Total magic all the way and a totally inspiring in the way of conviction and endurance.

I have been a Motorhead fanatic since 1980. Even to this day, they are on of my favorite most listened to bands.
One thing I always liked about Motorhead, as well as AC/ DC...there was never the pseudo-intellectual need to "grow as artist", or sacrifice one style for another trendier style, and call it growing as artist. When in fact you know it is just nothing but selling out.
One thing I always loved about Bob Muldowney's Kick Ass Monthly Magazine, when I was a teenager. Motorhead appeared in alot of issuses.
One thing I liked about Metallica was the cross between Diamond Head and the simplicity of Motorhead. The Motorhead aspect of Metallica, was more important to me, than the Diamond Head part, because I always liked Tygers of Pan Tang better because of the savage factor involved.
Some claim that Motorhead lost its savage factor after "Iron Fist", but I have every Motorhead album since then. Because they never released a bullshit album, ala Metallica- Load, Anthrax- Among the Living, Exodus- Impact is Imminent, Sepultura- Roots, Exciter- Exciter on Maze Records 1988. Testament-The Ritual, Megadeth- Risk.
Not to mention tons of NWOBHM artist who also sold out, aka Tygers of Pan Tang, Jaguar.
Being 45 years old now, I still get a rush out of getting Motorhead albums, and get a laugh out of the so-called metal gods, why jump from one trendy band-wagon to the next, while Motorhead, makes all the posers look pretty stupid always since 1977.
Most bands I only have 3,4 or 5 albums untill those artist sellout. But with Motorhead, In a few years, I will have gone from 27 Motorhead albums in my collection, then 28, 29, 30. Album count. The second most ablums I have are by Black Sabbath then Mercyful Fate and King Diamond.
Most bands are pretty lucky to have carees for 2 to 5 years...I love at of these contenders, flash in the pan types of acts, since they always try to be more metal than metal and harder/faster/crazier than the next guy. But Motorhead has been part of 5 decades now, and most bands can not even have a 5 album run before selling out.
Motorhead is the most reliable/ trusted/ respected band at least in my eyes in the hard rock/ heavy metal style. Since I know why this band claims not to be a part of the metal movement.
Hype and trends change year in a year out, but I always can count on Motorhead.
