TORANAGA "God's gift" bores me to death!
I don't like Mid-Tempo Thrash at all ("Mid-Tempo Thrash", kinda paradox, eh?).
Another purchase I do totally regret (that 7€ would have been better invested in some six packs of beer).

We certainly had some lame bands back in the day, Re-Animator (awful album art) and D.A.M. to name but two.

It wouldn't be very decent of me not to mention the lamest of them all once again: ACID REIGN.

Crap like that and RE-ANIMATOR gave UK thrash a very bad reputation.

As I've already said, early stuff from both bands are ok for me.

Anyway good and bad 'thrash' can be found in any country, I don't understand all this bashing towards UK ...

And now I listen to Hydra Vein and first Arbitrater (the second one I don't like ^^) :P

Great record, need to play it the other day.
Their second LP is great too though slightly different.

Condemned to Eternity was just fine, but then they ran out of ideas & went funk metal.

*shudders at mention of D.A.M.*

That "Drugs Are Rubbish" song off the Doomsday News video put me right off them.

The first Re-Animator album is good. The next two I can understand because apparently the band HAD to do them under contractual obligation, so they didn’t put a lot of serious effort into the writting. “Condemned To Eternity” however, I cannot agree with.

The unfortunate thing about Acid Reign was that their records didn't capture them at all.
Live, they were a fantastic, hard working and very entertaining band, a great fun night out, and because of that they were a very popular live draw on the club circuit at the time.
I saw them live quite a few times, and always enjoyed them, but i absolutely concede that their records by contrast are universally poor.
I cannot find anything positive to say about Re-animator or D.A.M. however.
I saw the latter supporting Dark Angel & Nuclear Assault back in the day, and they managed to drive the audience off the floor and into the bar area in an attempt to avoid their turgid boring racket.
Totally derivative, and utterly uninspiring.
I cannot, I shall not, I will not obey.

I'm into their demo stuff too, although most of it is hampered by shoddy drumming.
the debut LP is atrocious modern groove thrash. i sold mine some weeks ago...are the demos very different?

They are better performing live definitely. 8)

Just to be serious. Anthrax is a legendary band. You can't compare that band with a band with 3 lps & only 1 of those actually good (The Force). Can I compare Solitude Aeturnus with Well Of Souls? It's really a shame...

LOL

Anthrax has 3 mediocre LPs and the rest of their career is filled with shit. Onslaught had 2 amazing records. You're just confirming the stereotype that Greeks like US metal and nothing else.
