I can totally understand why people don't like stuff like Cirith Ungol and Slauter Xstroyes, even though I worship those bands. They are acquired tastes, they did things that were very original and don't sound very conventional, so that music will put people off. Also, it will make some people love them. Actually, Motorhead are something of the same. I mean, Lemmy's vocals and their rock'n roll style of playing (not conventional metal by anyone's standards I'd think) aren't for everybody.
The really good call here is the one about US Metal albums being very overrated though. Loads of very average albums sell for $100 or even $1000. The worst one is probably the Paradoxx, which is totally uninteresting and bland. Even bad.
What do you consider overrated by the underground ?

Yes that's true about Cirith Ungol,Slauter Xstroyes their special style isn't for anyone taste even for 80's metallers and i wonder if someone who has never heard metal will say'' hey that's good''.great_knuthulhu wrote:

About Motorhead i think their rock 'n' roll attitude is something that is constroversial to some people and also their music(personally i never liked Motorhead)
Are you sure there are only Paradoxx(i haven't heard them) that are overrated among the big-hit US rare-as-fuck LPs.
I can't believe someone can spend 3000 Euro on an LP like Paradoxx(what remind's me that

!!As far as I'm concerned they are much better than BROCAS HELM.
You and I will walk into the field so that our swords may clash in duel for the glory of Metal. With your last breath you will beg for blessing and forgiveness from the lords of metal for your transgressions.
And with that I mean, wow, seriously? I have a really hard time wrapping my head around that.

There are more, but that was the one that sprang to mind. Probably because I've recently discussed it with someone somewhere. Don't remember the details.Fucking Åmål wrote:Yes that's true about Cirith Ungol,Slauter Xstroyes their special style isn't for anyone taste even for 80's metallers and i wonder if someone who has never heard metal will say'' hey that's good''.great_knuthulhu wrote:

).That's craziness.
On a side note, I can't really believe metal heads are willing to pay up for the Ashbury album. It's a send up of 70s rock with a slight country flair for the most part. Now I like 70s stuff, but for people who want their music hard and heavy, that album is certainly not it.

Oh, I like that album a lot myself actually. Just can't understand why people who listen almost exclusively to metal will pay ridiculous amounts of money for it.hload wrote:sorry, but ashbury is my all time favorite non metal album....and the only one that i will never give away.....
