New Iron Maiden?

Some words on the new Iron Maiden "The Final Frontier". I purchased the 2 pic LP set when it came out on August 13th. Well, after listening approx 30 times to it I can say I like it a lot besides the track "Isle of Avalon" which is boring to my ears. The long songs have the same progressive touch as the previous album but remain less dark. "The Alchemist", the shortest track, is one of those excellent typical Maiden rockers. Iron Maiden is still a force to reckon with and this excellent album proves it.

There are no bad or even mediocre Iron Maiden albums in my book (even the Blaze Bayley ones) and this new one will not change that.

The first few listens gave me absolutely nothing, but it has really grown on me, and now I like it a lot. Of course not as good as the 83-88 period, but this is the best one since Seventh Son and better than the first three.

Favorites are Coming Home, The Alchemist and The Talisman.

I've heard three tracks so far, easily the most boring and pointless stuff they've made until now.

I listened to it twice and found it a real snoozefest unfortunately. I will give it a few more chances but not right now.

I found it a bit dull.

Overly long in places. I'm hoping it will grow on me ala Brave New World but i'm not sure

My sentiments exactly. Very boring and recycled album. Easily their worst

Well, I just think those first three are a little boring. Not that the new one by any means are fantastic, but I find it way more interesting than especially the first two.
I usually find music from the beginning of the 80's crappy, so that might be the reason, hehe.

He's from Norway, maybe he doesn't like it because they hardly had any heavy metal at the beginning of the 80's. Or perhaps he only likes Black Metal...

I'm actually beginning to appreciate the album a bit more. I like it more than DoD and AMoLaD, but to me it belongs in the good/decent catagory. Definitively not in the great or beyond one...

Same here.

I will have to make a point of listening to The Alchemist though, since it is the shortest track and some people here seem to like it.

Norway had loads of heavy metal bands at the beginning of the 80s damn it. Like... well... let's see... Roquefire?

Ok, but Marken's tastes are his own and they're really, really weird. I may be just as bad - I think Maiden have been really boring for the last couple of decades.

Norway has always been crappy when it comes to metalbands, and no, I don't like black metal.
It's just that metal first became interesting in the mid 80's. I guess the only album, 80-84, on my personal top 100-album list would be Piece Of Mind. I'm not sure if that one would have made it either.
That's just the way it is. Sorry

On topic: Right now I would give The Final Frontier a 7,5/10, and that's very good for a Maiden-record released after 1988.
