Thanks daniel for fixing this situation !
In the meantime, just to add to the discussion i will say i like both demo and single...Very mysthical and epic in the old way...
I also don't care much about band's politics, religious or philosophical views of the world...
I'm just in this for the music !

i think theyre not half bad but it didnt worked well for a full length , so boring.
Last time they released their demo tapes they send 5-6 copies to several distros (me included) and then e-mailed everyone on their list and told em to go get the tapes from the distros. As you can imagine this resulted in TONS of desperate unknown people e-mailing me and begging me for tapes, offering their sisters, mothers, or left kidneys...
In an effort to help I digitized the demo and put on divshare's flash player as online stream, so all those people can at least hear the tunes and vote (the entire idea of the demo was for fans to choose the best song to be included on the upcoming LP, or so I was told).
Anyhow, to cut the story short. Several days later Axe e-mailed me to express his bitter dissapointment that "someone" has made their demo available on the net and thus ruined their entire effort and purpose of their work so far. Apparently they do not wish their music in anything but analog format. Tape-trading is okay, but anything digital is big no-no. That's what I know.
P.S. I'm not a band representative or affiliated to them in any way. I have no idea why they never respond to fans or would not dub tapes when asked. I've defended em in the past and thought they are up to some good agenda, but now I feel relieved I'll be out of the elitist loop next time a release is given to a selected few. It is a relief to know I'd not be the one to have 5 copies and wonder how to give to 55 desperate people crying for one.
P.S.S. the edit was to add the "P.S." part above

mordred wrote:I know the band has said they are against the spreading of their music as mp3's, instead they promote tape trading. Problem is people don't tape trade anymore. For about two years I have tried to get tape dubs from people I know have the recordings but no, it seems no one can be bothered to copy a tape anymore. I have "Achaean Invocation" and "Devotion" demos as tape dubs and they are both great recordings.
Still want to hear the rest, I will never get desperate enough to reach for mp3's though.

Mordred, send me your mailing address buddy. I'll hook you up with my own copy of "Storms Over Hellespont." After being accused of being the bad kid on the block for trying to help, I cannot enjoy listening to this band anymore, and do not need this tape.

Good for you Iordan. I think it says all that needs to be said about the band that they'd write you complaining about such a thing yet choose to not respond to people asking for analog DUBS = they are NOT honest.

And they're not THAT good either. This isn't a Manilla Road/Cirith Ungol class band we're dealing with.

I like the music on this demo, but the LP wasn't as good, that's why I'm really interested in hearing the newer stuff. They don't gain much from their weird behaviour, in my case it just makes me angry and that makes their music suffer.

honestly I was suprised by the title track on the recent demo, it has a cool WFG friends of hell vibe and the vocals were actually pretty good for once. But the other three tracks were nothing different, bla bla epic boreout metal

Why send a select few tapes to distros and then tell people that they hav e stock? They obviously wanted to cause problems to begin with. Good for you for uploading the music to divshare.

But why are people so offended/angry when they can't get hold of their records/tapes? The music of TOM is their own property, right? Well, then they can print or sell or give away for free as much as they want, even if someone thinks that this may be odd or weird.
There is no such thing as a "right" to hear every song that is ever recorded, if the band doesn't want to. Why the outrage?
I wrote a mail to the band, but they didn't reply. Well, only thing i can offer is some cash for their records, but if they don't want to sell it, what can i do? I don't think that i am naturally entitled to other people's products.

You need to question why they put the music out in the quantities they do. They say it because of financial reasons they restrict the pressings, yet they are FULLY aware of the increasing demand for their music yet they LESSEN the pressings, haha, all the while people are offering to help them out financially - which they refuse, because the most important thing for them is to be this 'cult' band - how can you not realise this? They are utilising text book techniques of causing a commotion, they rely on news spreading through word of mouth, they bestow copies on carefully selected individuals(oh yeah it must be a coincidence that so many label or distro owners receive copies hahaha), thus creating heightened awareness, and this is combined with limiting the amount of copies to way below the amount of people they know will become interested.
DO YOU THINK THIS IS WHAT HEAVY METAL IS ABOUT!?
This is like some fucking black metal 'intellectuals' playing games. Do you think ANY metal band from the 80's would have pretended to shun interest??? As I've said ToM write some good music, but their fucked up attitude harms them much more than it does good. And you can bet your shiny underpants they're reading these topics or having messages relayed to them. Which I find hilarious, if there's anyone on here who's acting like some spy you need to take a long look in the mirror.
