i quoted the lyrics of the last song on scarlet slaughterer
Ah, okay.

I'm only familiar with "I Was Watching My Death", so that would explain the confusion.

Mortuary - Blackened image is pretty great, and Slaughter - Strappado of course. Unholier - Revelations of she-ohl is awesome too.

INCUBUS-serpent's temptation and beyond the unknown are definitely a good cross between raging thrash metal and early death metal!!!

I wouldn't really call Demolition Hammer Death Metal.

Matter of opinion I guess.
but...is this not the death/thrash thread? to me DxHx embody both.

lots of good picks, ya'll forgot:

INCUBUS (FL)
dead horse
DEATHRASH
ROTTING CORPSE
NUM SKULL
GAMMACIDE

Death/Thrash Metal hybrid bands normally contain Death vocals with Thrash riffs.

I wouldn't call Demolition Hammer vox Death Metal and the same goes for Gammacide and Rotting Corpse for example.

But like I said, it's a matter of opinion...

Yeah, I also like to differentiate between brutal thrash and death/thrash. death/thrash often has growls, some blasts, heavier sound, sinister atmosphere. brutal thrash for me is basically just normal thrash, but faster, more intense.

What about Dream Death? They're hard to classify, some riffs sounding like Hellhammer, especially on the demos, while the album Back From The Death has a pretty clean, spacious production. The vocals are not a complete growl, but more snarling than in most thrash bands. Plenty of doom elements as well, but in 1986 that genre was arguably only just starting to solidify.

Exactly.

For example, Morbid Saint is brutal Thrash.

I'd personally call it Doom/Death Metal

Ok you're gonna hate me but i think Entombed is the absolute paramount. Period no other group I've heard so far has that intensity and originality.

But I don't hear too much Thrash in there? Entombed are Death Metal to me or Svensk Dodsmetal if you prefer?

Did anyone mentioned MASTER from Chicago or DR. SHRINKER or REVENANT?

Yeah! I think they got the mix just right. I'd nominate another NJ band too, Nokturnel.

The INVOCATOR demo "alterations" was also a good mix of thrash and death metal

And indeed REVENANT is absolutely killer!

fuck, totally forgot REVENANT, killer overlooked bunch, same w/ PRIME EVIL,

and regarding DEMO HAMMER, while the vocalist may not be doing dm vox predominantly, they do pop up from time to time, plus as the other dude stated, musically they're a bit more intense than the average thrash act from that time era...

oh, and you're right about GAMMACIDE/RxCx not fitting in here
