Well that's wrong. I suggest you consult the album sleeve instead of metal archives. Hellroadie only sang backing vocals on Atlantis Rising.

IMO, "Spiral Castle" is one of the best albums they've done since reforming. The atmosphere is just so dark and mystical on that one, and there seems to be a lot of influences from different parts of their career on it. For example, that part around 5 minutes into "Merchants of Death" really wouldn't be too out of place on "Mark of the Beast."

It took me a while to get into "Atlantis Rising," but I now appreciate it. "Gates of Fire" has some phenomenal moments, but tends to drag after the first three songs. "The Fall of Iliam" is just far too repetitious to cover 14 minutes, sorry. "Riddle of Steel" and "When Giants Fall" are fucking amazing, though. "Voyager" is a solid record too.

But yeah, I don't think they've ever made a bad album at all. Manilla Road at their worst is still better than most of the bands out there.

"The Fall of Iliam" is probably my favorite on Gates of Fire.
