I was thinking about it, can't find a fifth one equally great to Endless pain, Pleasure to kill, Extreme Aggression or Coma of souls. Terrible certainty is good, but not on par with the aforementioned.

Yeah this is why I hesitated a little. Perhaps Terrible Certainty is good enough, perhaps not. Can't decide. Maybe on another day it is.

I don't think i can find 5 awesome ones, but the first 4 really rip.
Well if you allow me to add the demo compilation "The James Rivera Legacy", then you end up with 5 masterpieces.
Where were you in '79 when the dam began to burst

Meh  ... Carcass have three excellent albums, one decent and one is a bit shit.

In my opinion obviously :D

IMO it's a bit uneven, the first 4 tracks of the HELSTAR demo are killer, the VIGILANTE demo is so-so though.

Not to pick on anyone's tastes, but I'm always surprised to see Manilla Road make this kind of list for so many people, as i think most of their catalog is highly, highly overrated.

Metal- decent, not essential
Invasion- decent, not essential
Dreams of Eschaton/Mark of the Beast- really boring, 'aftershock' is the only track that stands out
Crystal Logic- essential
Open the Gates- essential
Deluge- big step down, mostly forgettable
Mystification- too thrashy; the slow songs are good but MR just don't sound good IMO when they try out more aggresive material
Out of the Abyss- thrashy mess
Courts of Chaos- weak songs and horrible keyboards ruin the album
Atlantis Rising- horrible sound
(haven't heard the others and don't really plan to)

Sorry to pick apart a forum favorite, I just don't get the appeal of most MR albums at all

GJ, if you like fantasies... Metal Archives lists Anacrusis as "active" as of now... Don't know how factual that is but we can only dream.

Turbo: I've only heard Kawaleria and Last Warrior... I didn't know the other stuff was good too. Will give a few listens.

I don't even know who Risk are!

Black Axe heh if we allow the nameswitches, I think I'll add Satan too!

nightsblood:

The Deluge forgettable? How strange. Mystification not working for you? I think when Manilla Road play aggressive it's like a hammer crushing with pure vengeance. I do suggest you listen to the latter material too, like Gates of Fire, Voyager and Spiral Castle. I think you might like them more than you might expect.

The rest of the disco is worth getting, yes but not essential. Kawaleria is their best with Ostatni Wojownik followed, both are fantastic albums for sure

if you prefer heavy than earlyier Doroste, Smak, Titanic if you want speed/thrash later - Epidemic, Dead end (mine favourite), One way

I think Dorosłe dzieci is very much essential. It's my second favourite Turbo album after Kawaleria..

Surely one of the ten best albums of 1982* - imo better than Kawaleria Szatana.

*
The Number of the Beast
Metal
Screaming for Vengeance
Blackout
The Broadsword and the Beast
Dorosłe Dzieci...
