"Metal Church" is tritone all the way!

ENFORCER's two demos with the exception of couple faster tracks were great doom-ladden slabs of steel

I'd say that Metal Church is straight up Power/Thrash.

Classic USPM for the most part but they do have a tendency to throw in those Thrash riffs as well.

Looks like there's not much consensus on Metal Church! At least we can rule out any strong country and western influences in their sound :)
Seriously though, I always thought Metal Church struck a good balance of styles. There are straight-up power elements, there are indeed some thrash riffs, and there are those dark, menacing moments too. I always liked the fact that they didn't fit neatly into one genre or another.
As mordred said, I think at least some of the early Metal Church material falls pretty close to the Tyrant style and thus deserves mention. But folks like Cochino are correct that not all MC material fits the bill.

Moving on... So no one's familiar with that live Child Saint album?

Lots of great names mentioned and KILLEN was a good call. They're awsome.
But isn't there anyone who cares about Druid? I think Four Curses slays! Especially "The Robber"! I can see how some would dislike Vampire Cult but I like it anyway.. Just not as much as the EP..

The guy was charging something like 35$ for a fuckin' CDR. He can keep all copies for himself.

Funny, I seem to remember a very old review of the AVATAR 7" (in Metal Forces maybe?) where they were indeed referred to as "Doom Metal".

The CHILD SAINT live CDR is more classic US Metal and overall not as doomy as the 2 tracks on the 12".

..and I actually prefer "Vampire Cult" to "4 Curses".

Nobody mentioned INNER SANCTUM yet? Thrashy at times, but in their slower moments they sure sound like PENTAGRAM.

Also: TYTON - Castle Donington and CASSLE - Midnight Fantasy EP fit the bill perfectly. Damn, I need all three of these badly!

And let's not forget about SORCERY - Sinister Soldiers!

I love that stuff, but imo it leans more towards Horror and it's not pure metal, more like a metal/hard rock hybrid.

for me the best doom traditional band is the Saint Vitus.. the first and the second album is very very beautiful and Scott Reagers, it has a fantastic voice!
...scott says: ...white stallions in my vein..
recently I have seen on youtube they concert of 1984, wore the t-shirt of the black flag... however they are incredible!!

For this thread, let's stay away from true doom bands like Saint Vitus (Trouble would be on the border line).

*D'oh* Of course! KILLEN just got pushed down to 2:nd place. INNER SANCTUM reigns supreme in this subgenre. But "thrashy"? :?
