The Key is cool, but Thresholds is in its own league with the absolutely insane guitar work. I need to dig my threshold CD one of these days and give it another spin, its been way too long

"The Key" is a classic -minus the crappy drumming but "Thresholds" is a great album too... just harder to get into due to the ultra complex riffing...

I love both "The Key" and "Thresholds", I don't know why people don't like it, the only thing that is wrong with "Thresholds" is that it should have deserved a better production.

Ever notice that Crystal Age's album cover is a total ripoff of "Thresholds"? Only a year or two apart!

I think 'The Key' would have to be my favorite Dan Seagrave artwork!

'Aquatica' was the first Nocturnus tune I heard I was instantly sold on this band. Loved the story-like feel of their songs, and the sci-fi-occult combo employed was very cool, especially at that time when 99% of death metal was gore-based, which never had any appeal for me.
Any thoughts on their comeback album, 'Ethereal Tomb'? I haven't heard it in a long time; I remember it being a decent comeback, but I also found it a bit dull/too laid back. It had a quiet, dark atmosphere but it wore thin by the end of the album. 'Orbital Decay' was a cool song though.

Am I wrong, or did anyone forget -me included- to talk about AFTER DEATH? People loving early NOCTURNUS must check this band that carries the flame with the same spirit, even if the music is of course somewhat different.
This was a real discovery for me. Occult and atmospheric Death-Metal done with class isn't that frequent, in fact.

that's right, I've just read a Browning interview. He sees After Death as the continuation of Nocturnus. The only reason why he didn't keep the name was that the name was copyrighted by two blokes of the band; he seems pretty pissed off about that and doesn't consider Ethereal Tomb to be a Nocturnus album

so I guess we'll have to take it from there, anyone heard that first album from After Death?

Cool album artwork, but that's about it.

I've never been into Death Metal, minus of course the odd Death/Thrash Metal album that's more Thrash than Death.
