I do. I was surprised by this reaction myself so I was interested in some 2nd opinions. I'm gonna wait for the vinyl myself, unless I run into a copy of the CD at next week's record fair.

The question of soundquality is perfectly normal and common when a reissue of an old, obscure recording gets released. I was also under the impression that the master reels had been used, that's why I wondered about this comment. If it came off as rumour-spreading, I'm sorry, this wasn't my intention. Since his voice in the matter seems to get the nay-vote, I'll check my friend's ear-canals for badgers at the next opportunity.

This was a DIRECT transfer off the ORIGINAL MASTER REELS (CD 1). Sure question away, I'm not saying you can't. Just that those kinds of vague comments can start rumors... Like people saying their vinyl rip sounds better than my master is insane, for at the very least, my master has no vinyl needle noise.

CD 2 is just bonus extras that was sent to me on a CDR, so those everyone can bash and I can't say a thing about them....

Re: the CD sound quality, I bought this from Tim when it was released and I think it sounds fine. The sound quality is noticeably different than the mp3 versions I've heard, the main difference, IMO, is that the sound is louder and clearer on the SKR CD. It's a big enough difference to be noticeable right away, and the CD sounds great! After listening to the mp3s for years it did take me 1-2 spins of the CD to get used to the new sound quality, so that may be why some folks are initially surprised by the sound; not because it's worse, but just b/c it's noticeably different. Some people also tend to think that, for heavy 70s material like this, low-fi sound quality somehow enhances the music.

I may get the vinyl upon release, as I love this record but of course don't have an original vinyl copy The CD is definitely a worthy purchase for fans of the album IMO
