Well everybody's entitled to their own opinion but I thought this review is hilarious.

Metallica is back in a big way with 2008’s implausibly exceptional Death Magnetic. Their best album in 17 years and one of the best pure metal albums of the millennium finds the band cutting a fierce swath of diabolical thrash metal through 10 superb tracks of metal brilliance.
Fierce swath of diabolical thrash metal? Talk about exaggerating!
Makes you think they put out the new
seven churches or
none shall defy

Dude either has no idea about real HM or is getting paid to write this hyperbole.

If you think this is exaggerated you should go to Heart of Metal forum. They have there a Death magnetic topic, which is currently on its 34-th page (!) ALL OF WHICH is MAD PRAISES... I go there time to time and test my patience of reading and not responding

Well I gotta admit I read some some pretty funny statements over there.
"I dont think the songs are long at all. Its metal not emo or punk."
Not that I don't enjoy songs with epic lenght but it seems to me that they're making every song over 5min just for the sake of having long songs and not because of any rational justification. Just self-purposeful long songs..

Actually, when I heard it for the first time it seemed to drrraaaaaaag on for a tad too long... and started to annoy me.

This is actually what heavy metal is for most people nowadays. Long songs, big words, some random death/evil symbol thrown in the cover and some riffs. If it looks and farts like heavy metal then it should be metal, right? Riiiiight.
Heh. All I have to say about the album (apart from what Helm pointed out in his "rant") is that they are progressively making it more difficult for me to remember that they once wrote important stuff. It is not a matter of originality here, I am not complaining about them rehashing old riffs but about them actually sounding like a cover band playing Metallica songs aboard a cruise ship while infinitely bored and desensitized to meaning metalheads just want something to go with their beer. It's a simulation. All the signs are there but it isn't real anymore. What hurts the most are the lyrics. Aaaaarg. At this point, even Escape sounds good.
Love is a four letter word. Yeah James. Whatever.
I've decided that each time metallica gets mentioned in a conversation and how awesome their new album is, I will recommend an album from a band that really matters and plays from the heart. So, this week is Confessor Appreciation Week.

I happen to come across this 'review' (sort of) on a forum:
http://www.stevehoffman.tv/forums/showp ... tcount=557
This Metallica 'fan' is a dickhead. In his whole article I see him only whinning about how bad the sound quality of his precious Metallica vinyl. There's not even a single word mentioned about the
music in his "review".
"This LP sounds horrible! Within minutes my ears are hurting, like someone is jabbing needles into my ears...... Listening was actually painful. I've listened to countless loud albums since I was a teenager...."
What a pussy!

Heh that sounds good. Just go directly to "nevermind them, have you listened to Devastation's 'Idolatry'?"
