For HEAVY doom check out SPIRITUS MORTIS from Finland. S/T and "Fallen" albums should be still avaible, there is also split CD "From The Ultima Thule" with mighty THE GATES OF SLUMBER released some time ago and "Burned Alive" split live tape with WITCHTIGER.

Excellent band on albums and even better live. They have not announced their new singer yet but third album should be on it's way.

from SM Dungeon wrote:Third SM album , working title "Resurrection" is under construction.
Studio sessions are booked to january 2009.

12 songs, some new, some old and some very old demoed a couple of weeks ago so 90% of songs composed and arranged. Still missing are lyrics to songs with working titles as: At Dawn we watch them burn, Burning the Bridges, Carved, Come and get them, Conan, I am the Way, Just walk Away, Karin riffi, Massive amount of punishment, Nightmare, RIP, She's an S, I'm an M.

Fastest song is four times faster than slowest and vice versa...

Before the album, 7" single is planned.
So maybe they have singer or atleast they believe they will find one.

Not ultra-slow parts nor blast-beats, just some sort of mid-tempo with ocational galloping bits. The drum sound of that record is just amazing, sounds something like acid drums with human skins patches pounded with bones.
Autopsy are death metal with a sludgy sound. They are not doom metal
Certainly, but I think that particular album has sounds A LOT like traditional Doom, and it absolutely FEELS like Doom. What I was trying to do is separate them from the "classic" Death/Doom sound from other bands they mentioned, because I think that MF is not your average Death/Doom album (a subgenre that most of the time is nothing but slow Death Metal), but has more of a Doom thing going on. And of course, when I first mentioned Autopsy in this thread I used the phrase "if you also like Death Metal".

They probably have a back-up plan that if they can't work it out with a new vocalist they'll get one of the old vocalists to guest on the album. I don't think they've got it all sorted out though.

The same goes for Dream Death. They have little to do with the doom/death and funeral of the 1990's and 2000's. These bands actually have doom metal in their music instead of a dooming atmosphere surrounding slow death metal(exceptions exist).

The almighty REVEREND BIZARRE (r.i.p). The best doom metal band ever. I'm dead serious

Black Axe got my point, and I agree on Dream Death too.
And about Reverend Bizarre, they were ok, they had some very good songs, but by any chance they were the best Doom band ever. Their last album bored me to tears, it was just soooo long... suckers!

"In the Rectory of the Bizarre Reverend" doesn't have a single boring moment. Nor does "Crush the Insects". I can agree that their last album wasn't as good as their previous efforts. But still, their music kicked everyones asses

Anyone heard anything more regadring the compilation cd/lp gathering all rare tracks? Demos, covers and all shit they ever recorded I think

Yes, "In The Rectory.." is their best full lenght, "Crush..." has some great tracks like the last one and "Harbinger Of Metal". Oh and "Return To Rectory" (bonus disc inlcuded in Spinefarm version of "Rectory") has one of my favorite Reverend Bizarre track, "The Festival".
Also split 7" with Ritual Steel must be mentioned, infact all their splits are really good.

Which reminds me of ORODRUIN. As we are in doom topic they have to mentioned, one of the best traditional doom metal bands out there. Their material on that Reverend Bizarre split 12" simply slays!
