Of course I like a lot, lot, lot^3 more guitarists, but Iommi was the first to play that heavy.

Born To Lose features my favourite Iommi solo - infact probably one of my favourite all-time solo's.

Even though I don't care much for the band , I think Rocky George from Suicidal Tendencies is one of the most underrated lead guitarists ever. His solo on the total track of How Will I laugh...is truly mind-blowing and his white hot lead playing all over the Lights ,Camera...album are awesome too , almost makes that record listenable and help you forget Mike Muir's stupid vocals and the appalling "Funk -Metal" bass "stylings" of the excorable Mike "take Metallica's money and run like a retarded crab" Trujillo...

well, they both play the harmonized part. but the solo before that they trade off quite a lot. ive seen em play it in a few live videos. its hard to say who plays sloppier durring that era. lol.

yeah Ma g ma is great, also Gasp for Breath. of course those were both Mein Kampf songs before becoming Aion songs. so that explains why they kick ass. Yeah, Mein Kampf, although both their recorded songs are total NWOBHM worship, actually did play a lot of thrash songs.

Whoah, I can only try to picture how great the Mein Kampf's version of Ma g ma sounds. So are those songs on Hang On Night EP also MK's originally? They sure sound like.

Yeah....Hang On Night and Gasp for Breath are the same song....I think Bloody Rain might be a Mein Kamph song too....its hard to tell because after they became AION, they still played stuff like Speeder, and as Mein Kamph they played stuff that later became AION songs, so to me its almost like the same band.

By the way, if you only like pre- MA G MA and Deathrash Bound Era AION, I would suggest listening to Z [ZETTO], its probably the only post MA G MA album that has real thrash songs on it (unless you count their fanclub only stuff that theyve been doing after FREAK OUT, that is also totally thrash but the sound is so shitty it is almost unlistenable)

Yeah I noticed the similarity with Gasp For Breath and Hang On Night. Both versions rock if you ask me. I'll have to check out that Zetto-album. I don't find post MA G MA stuff unbearable but it somehow fails to grab my attention.. Also I'm not a big fan of Nov's vocals in Aion (Excluding Ma G Ma EP) although I love him in VOLCANO.

Sorry for bringing this one up again but I haven't posted yet.

NOTHING beats late Ram It Down/Painkiller era Priest as far as lead guitar goes. I love that late 80's style of flashy guitar playing that involves every trick thrown into solos sweeping, fast scales, tapping, whammy dives.

Ram It Down is the song all other solos are compared to perfect solo full stop. If a solo has all or most of the following points I'll usually like it (I like slower bluesy solo etc as well but not to the same extent);

Tapping
Sweeping
Fast scales
Twin guitar harmonies (half/full octave etc)
guitar duels ( see Ram It Down)
whammy dives (done tastefully in consideration)

I love lead guitar and think it's very metal and metal played a huge part in taking guitar playing to a new level of involvement with speed/technique.
