I totally agree. My personal fave is probably the cover of Slade's "The shape of things to come". Brilliant!

I always thought 'ONLY LIVING WITNESS-Innocents' CD was a completely missed classic!
Might have been a bit too "alt-metal" for some, but it is ex-FORMICIDE and is still heavy as fuck!
Heh, definitely completely different! A lot of cool tracks on that one though.

How about December Wolves - Completely Dehumanized !!

I had kept away from the Siren LP for a few years, but then I noticed that that dude that later sang for the best period of Mekong Delta (Dances of Death, Kaledroscope, Principle of Doubt) is from here and I thought his voice was very distinctive. I checked it out a while ago and it sounds pretty terrific to me. Eagerly awaiting the demo reissue.

As for a classic that I can suggest to you all with my hand on my heart, I will break the mold and suggest something that came out just a scarce two years ago or so which some fo you are bound to have missed:

Negură Bunget - OM

This is etherial one could perhaps say metaphysical black metal. As a starting point think of epic Bathory and In The Woods... of the first demo/album and go from there. If you enjoy spirit in your black metal, if you enjoy compositional prowess that is directed not at flash and dazzle, but at seamless flow and expression, then I really don't think you can go wrong with this. Even if you don't like black metal as a rule, even then I suggest you give it a listen. These types of records do not come about every often in HM, a genre plagued with form immitators who create perfect sounding albums devoid of any resonance and spirit.
