Psychedelic Metal Recommendations?
I guessed you were going to like it, is fucking great, bigfootkit wrote:Cochino, that was a great tip, wow!
I've only heard it once so far, but on first impression it sounds like an unholy cross between Witchfinder General, Phantom's Divine Comedy & Pagan Altar, with the odd proggy passage reminding me of Tamarisk or maybe Legend (Jersey), fantastic.
Really unique atmosphere, and the heavily accented English vocals add to that perfectly, i can see this becoming a real favourite.
Do you know if there was ever a cd issue?
Many thanks for pointing me in their direction.

Ah, we're talking about 2 different bands with the same name.Rock Beast wrote:I dont know much about LEGEND since I just found out how absolutely amazing their album "from the fjords" is. The "...Fjords" album was by the US band of that name.
The band i was talking about were from the UK, the island of Jersey specifically.
Just to confuse matters, there was also another UK band of that name @ the same time from Kent.

That totally just reminded me, is anyone hasnt heard it check out SORCERER's track "Bloodline" on the CLEVELAND METAL compilation, 1983. KILLER, KILLER track and the last 2-thirds of the song is a big echo-y guitar solo with a mindblowing climax...its just awesome...
They have several hours of other recordings, (2 demos, I have the track list to one, plus hours of live stuff). I dont have ANY of this stuff, though, and it doesnt look like anyone will be getting it any time soon (the owner of the master tapes wont trade copies of it, in case he wants to release it at some point). They also had a comp track one year later but it didnt have the Psychadelic feel that "Bloodline" had (although it was still awesome).
The main songwriter had a solo project with a way more "Psychadelic" feel, and they have this song called "Agony" that is AMAZING although its more Psych/Hard Rock then Metal. Still highly recommended though.

Yeah, "Sinister Soldiers" is a classic in my book.omen of hate wrote:You can check them here :Rock Beast wrote:have anyone heard the american band SORCERY ?

They have another album from 1980 called "Til Death Do Us part" which is pretty good too. But it's a different band with the same name who recorded the album "Stunt Rock", despite what you may read in some places online.
TDDUP doesn't even come close to Sinister Soldiers. I've never read that Stunt Rock was by the same band, but it's not the first time I've seen someone explicitly mention they are not the same band.bigfootkit wrote:Yeah, "Sinister Soldiers" is a classic in my book.omen of hate wrote:You can check them here :Rock Beast wrote:have anyone heard the american band SORCERY ?

Agreed, but there's still some good tunes on "TDDUP" too.TDDUP doesn't even come close to Sinister Soldiers. There are a few online resources who list the "Stunt Rock" band as being the same band responsible for "SS" & "TDDUP", rateyourmusic.com for one.
The "Stunt Rock" album's not bad if you like late 70's Hard Rock, it's apparently the soundtrack to an obscure movie of the same name, not in the same league as either of the albums by the other Sorcery though.
