Not sure if all you guys know but if you have a metal archives account and sign in you don't have to use the crappy "Google Search" and can use the proper search that shows accurate results. You can search by Album, Band, Label, Song etc

That's probably why.

I haven't been able to successfully login for quite some time there.

I should put my laziness aside and rectify this problem...

Wonder why they don't use this option when you're not signed in :? . Maybe google sponsor them in some way.

No. Due to old programming code, the search is the thing that brings the server down to its knees. Therefore the real CPU-consuming search is limited to registered users only, while people not having registered have to use the CPU-free search.

Background is: At MA basically 1/4 of currently online people are registered, the other ones aren't. Therefore the CPU-work is still ongoing and doesn't crash the server. I wonder, when or if they improve this code ever. Morrigan once wrote that this is 5-year old code buried somewhere in thousands of lines and you open a new hole with every line of code touched elsewhere.
