Domination is OK. But they never topped their first three albums imo.

The track "Hellspawn: The Rebirth" was originally on Abominations of Desolation.

have you noticed that all morbid angel albums are in alphabetical order?

Formulas is a killer album, perhaps the most experimental of their albums. But I'm havig quite problems with Gateways and Heretic haven't convinced me either.

Well, I agree, yet more to the point of the original thread, they definitely modernized their sound starting on Somewhere Out in Space and in full-swing by Powerplant. In other words, with the arrival of Richter and Zimmermann. The band became less theatrical, less progressive... and instead they focused on more direct "rockish" songwriting and introduced an almost monochrome production technique to back it up. It worked for me, and I would name their two most recent albums among this decade's absolute favorites. "Empress" was the best new heavy metal song I heard from 2007.

Although, I think they've already been mentioned.

Running Wild have been going downhill since Victory pretty much with the exception of The Brotherhood which is the best post 1997 RW release.

I definitely agree with some of the mentions so far: Virgin Steele (I actually prefer their newer releases to their first few), Jag Panzer, and Gamma Ray

I'll add that the new Scorpions is quite good and manages to integrate modern elements with their 80s sound in a way that they'd been unsuccesful in doing until now.
