It is released by Romany Records and has a red sticker in the upper right corner that reads: "In and of crisis at christmas. Working for homeless people". Finally I feel I can hold my head high when I walk by some of the hundreds of gypsy beggars here in Oslo.
Anyone know if this single is rare?
The only thing I know, is that I need one too! :)

The Widow-album is such a killer. Have anyone seen it for real any time?
Conserning the release date, on metal archives the date is 1983, but on my 7" it says 1990.
A bit expensive, but here you go: http://www.vinyltap.co.uk/shop/item/71219181332828.aspx

Maybe I'll buy that one later! No money right now, thanks!

I saw the widow LP on a list from Joe Pangallo once, 800 euro or something like that. Already gone when I contacted him. I heard from a german collector (I think it was) 2 years ago if something like that that the widow lp was on ebay once too, went for 100 dollars. I would kill for that lp!

Regarding the 'Widow' LP, it's listed in Malc's NWOBHM encyclopedia but under the band name WIDOW, which I think we can now safely say was never the band's name, the correct name being RITUAL. Malc's write-up also mentions that the album was apparently impossible to find even back in the day, but that there was a review of it in Kerrang. I don't think he gave the date/issue #, but if it was reviewed in Kerrang in '83-84, that implies it was a legitamite release at the time. If anyone has old stacks of Kerrang from those years, it would be interesting to see what info was given in the album review. If it was bottlegged, as Black Axe suggested, even the bootleg must be extremely hard to find.
Definitely a pretty cool album.

The problem the band have is their label Romany Records. They don't want info regarding the band or their album(s) to go public. That is why the album was so hard to find even back then.

At least that's what it said on the website. The history of this band is very odd to say the least.

Wow that IS odd!Usually labels want to promote their releases, not hide them :) I can see where that makes some people suspicious about the release. I tried checking out the band's website but the link wasn't working :( I posted a request for info on another board; if I learn anything of interest, I'll pass it along to folks here.
Someone's gotta have that Kerrang issue....

The band themselves were planning on it. But since the site was taken down again, I don't know if this will happen. But if it has to be released through Romany, it probably won't happen... (Or at least, we won't know of it)

@nightsblood: The website was also removed because of the same label's strange anti-promotional plans.

Wow that sounds pretty strange and fucked up.
Almost like the label is either embarrased of the band or that they hate them.

Another possibility is that the label thinks keeping the band shrouded in mystery will pique pepole's curiousity and keep the rumour mill running, thus generating free publicity

They may not have been active the entire time. If they/their label has recently caught on that there's interest in the band but also alot of confusion, they may wanna keep people guessing to keep them interested while they work on new material or preparing to rerelease old material

Probably not, because their releases in the eightes weren't very well promoted either(as far as anybody knows).

If they had used the interest and had the band website still existed they would probably have more publicity and chances on selling a lot of those reissues.

There's something very fishy about this band.....

They had a myspace page at one point too, but now it's down....

Yes, the same reason as the website. That label doesn't want any information about the band to go public.
