Best metal album of the last 25 years... Talk about going overboard with enthusiasm hahaha.

The problem is that daniel downloaded the album or that he dared to make a not so positive comment about it?

As "daring" as Daniel's opinion is I took issue with the downloading part...if that wasnt clear in each of my posts.

On the other hand only god knows how many times we have discussed the issue in this forum... Some people must have completely burn out reading such things once again here...

What I think is that since it was officially hailed as 'the best album of the last 25 years' (yes it is, it was written on the sticker I tell you!) any comment less praising than that shouldn't be taken very seriously, if at all. That's what the problem here is IMO.

As for me, I bought it and found it only decent. The selection of the old tracks wasn't the best either, I cannot understand how they decided to include 'The quest' and 'No martyr's cage' and leave 'Land of the living dead' or 'Intense is the sense of doom' out.

Taking someone's guitar, hamburger or whatever without paying for it = Petty Theft.
Downloading a copy of someone's album without paying for it = Copyright Infringement.

If discussing this, please read up on Intellectual Property Law, so everyone's got their facts straight.
Legal terms are irrelevant anyway as long as we are not in court, a theft is not even technically theft if you steal something without the intention of keeping it or making profit from it, doesn't matter, all thievery anyway.

Well, around here it was officially declared worst album in the history of metal even before the recordings had started, so I think anything just a little bit more positive than that is surprising coming from a Corroseum member.

Those will be on the next album. The Quest from my understanding was added because it's more catchy than "epic", so I think their intention was to keep the crowd on their feet. Kev and Tim wrote it, and It seems conclusive they're not the biggest fans of that track themselves.

I too really want to hear "Intense is The Sense Of Doom," great fucking track!

My sentiments exactly.

I posted my feelings about the album over on another forum so I'll repost the majority of it here. The reasons why I love it so much ought to be clear. I've been a huge fan of HELL for a number of years now. Their history, the mystique surrounding them, the stories of their old live shows, but most of all I'm a huge fan of their songs. I was and still am completely head over heels with the old HELL demos.

When I listen to the new album I hear the exact same songs. The clean production doesn't detract from my enjoyment in the slightest. The riffs are still there, the solos are still there, the synth, the demented vocals... the songs are still there, which is all I really care about. If I feel in the mood to listen to the lo-fi demos with Dave Halliday on vocals, I will simply revert back to the demos, but I can't see that happening very often, at least not while I'm enjoying the album so much.

It's simply a killer metal album.

I love the last page. The thread is finally becoming what it should be again, ridiculous arguments. :)

True, but it feels somehow incomplete without your argument on the divinity/crappiness of the new album, so please post something :)

It's simple, you will find them in next year album, which will be the "NEW best album of last 25 years"

Fucking hell... give the guy a break. None of you have ever exaggerated things in excitement or indulged in hyperbole?? Don't take it so literally. Just interpret it as "it's an excellent album".

People get lambasted on this forum over nothing...

Finally got some chances to listen to the album. It's not really that bad, but I don't the songs benefit from the clean production and guitar sound. Some do fair better than others though. Blasphemy And The Master being my favourite as heard on the new album.
Not even near to my top 100 of favourite metal albums of the last 25 years though.
But Daniel is extremely overreacting on the intro/keyboard stuff, though perhaps not the most inspiring part of the album they do fit in on the whole.

Listening to the lyrics I noticed just how much Sabbat stole from Hell. But I think the Hell album would've done better with a sound like on the first Sabbat album. :P

I also feel the need to critize the errors on the packaging. In the liner notes the album is referred to as CD on two occasions where I'm clearly holding the 3LP release in my hands. Also with at least each vinyl a lyric is printed on the wrong sheet which is annoying.

Discussion about downloading continues in a new thread in Metal Conquest, not here.
