Yes it is legit, pressed by the Sonopress US branch. Not the first press probably though, as this factory started pressing CDs in 1991 AFAIK.
Thanks, Heathen :)

My first pressing (came in sealed long box) was made by Disc. Mfg. Inc.

I went through all my Roadrunner cd's to look for suspicious copies.
Found two.

First one is Flotsam's No place For Disgrace.
Matrixno. looks like original, however the innerring is not transparant but has that silver mirror colour. Is this a (legit) pressvariation or a bootleg?

Second one is Jason Becker's Perpetual Burn.
Matrix is not corresponding to the original. Is this a legit repress or bootleg?

All input appreciated.

Jason Becker:
IFPI code means pressed during or after 1994 (which is when they were introduced). The IFPI code is one owned by Sonopress.
So to me this is legit.

Thank you.

I can't find any info on a repress though.
Doesn't imply there wasn't but I would like to have things confirmed 8)

Has Marshall Law s/t CD has ever been reissued? Was it released also on vinyl back in the 80s?

It was reissued with a different cover by Heavy Metal Records. I do not know the actual year of the re-release but I supose somewhere in the late 90's. Here is the musik-sammler link for that:

There also was a vinyl version of the album on Revolver/Heavy Metal Records.

Big labels simply repress CDs for many many years. No place for Disgrace was still in print until a couple years ago, same catalog number, same barcode, disc looks exactly the same except matrix. Same for things like Sanctuary - Refuge Denied which is now suddenly "rare" but a few years ago you could buy it for $10 at Walmart.com. If you go buy one of the first two Metal Church CDs brand new at Amazon right now it will look just like the ones pressed in the 80s except for the matrix.

Bare with me, still learning new things each day.

This makes sense in Jason Becker's case.
Still would like to know if (early) Roadrunner cd's have that silver innerring variation.
The matrix on the F&J cd is exactly the same as the first press.
Only innerring is not transparant.

Any thoughts on that?

Just something Sonopress did for a certain time. A lot of Roadrunner discs have these variations. Look for example at Carnivore Price Killers CDs, some have silver ring some do not but the matrix is identical (probably same glass stamper used even) but for a time Sonopress used a solid silver center ring. It is a common thing and usually nothing to worry about.

Equinox- Labyrinth.

How can I distinguish the bootleg from the original pressing?

Anyone?

I think that's quite hard to understand...

Here's a pic of the matrix on my Equinox-Labyrinth copy.
This copy comes from a second hand shop and I guess it has been sitting there for years. However would still like to have confirmation.
