At last !!! One of the best new bands from Russia that managed to elude me for so long !!! Had to send someone to St. Petersburg to get me these CD's, apparently it's the only place where they can be found.

Bought a few Malaysian vinyls just to check them out without knowing any better:
SAXO - "Dukacartita Cinta / Nyalakan Cinta Ku" 12" '90
This is a two track maxi single that was released to prote their '91 album. I understand the band is supposed to be heavy/speed metal but apparently more radio friendly ballad stuff was chosen for this single. Not bad but I'd sure love to hear the entire album to hear the metallic stuff.
RAJAWALI - "Pohon Cinta Berdur" LP '91?
A very typical malay metal album. A couple of harder tracks, a good share of ballads and the rest in between. Doesn't quite reach the level of RUSTY BLADE or ROCKERS but no bad by any means.
RUHIL & METAL CHILD - "Suratan Tersirat" 4trk 12"EP '90
Female fronted metal ballads. The singer Ruhil Amani has since became an actor & TV personality in Malaysia. If I'm not mistaken she was 15 when this was recorded. More recent picture below.
PUTRA - "Rockestra" SPLIT LP '91
Uh, this has got to be one of the weirdest ones as whole. On one side we have PUTRA and the picture shows nothing short from a serious heavy rock band posing in front a brick wall. On the flip side there's ADIK LIZA - a local kid star and I'm sure she's not even 10 years old. Only four tracks by PUTRA and difficult to say anything conclusive. The last track is a weird oriental instrumental and tracks 2 and 3 are sure fire Malaysian power ballads. The first track is kind of slow tempo track that could be nice if the production wasn't so thin. My day is more than saved by the chorus which is an obvious tribute to ABBA's Voulez-vous. "Ooo Lay Hoo... Aha, Aha akan datang dari sini. Ooo Lay Hoo... Aha, Aha menjadikan lembah synui". Nice.

Rockestra is truly the weakest release from Putra, the first 2 albums are MUCH better !
