I didn't know who Bobby Jarzombek was so I watched the video. He's a very good drummer but my theory has been proven: metal drumsolo videos suck because:
1. the drums they play on sound awful
2. the drums look ugly as well, why do they need 10000 cymbals and 700 toms?
3. the drummers look stupid
Old videos by jazz drummers are the best ones to watch for me. Their drums sound awesome and they don't need a 60-piece drumset to show their skills.

They did indeed. In fact, by the end of their time they were actually quite good. I have their first demo and I can see what you might mean, but I also have later rehearsal tapes and they were really good by then (late 87/early 88).
