I don't have any good ones around but I'll give that a try, I cannot believe I didn't think of that on my own
Thanks!
They also sale boxes like that in various places made of different things such as heavier duty cardboard, wicker and plastic.

Kinda overkill fancy but good to know I can order some cheap crap off IKEA that will work in case the record store can't pull through.

In the spring of '21 we moved into a new apartment and for the first time EVER I was forced to store the collection in the 'traditional' bookshelf-manner, because space-issues. Pardon the messiness of this Before-pic - it was literally taken the very week we moved in:

A couple of years + 1 amicable & smooth divorce later, things are back to Normal, and I've managed to realize a design idea I've been toying around with for ages. Shamelessly pleased with this one:
I can SEE my records again :,)

Holy shit DaN, i've been in shops with less stock than that!
Very nicely done from both a visual & practical perspective, though i've no idea how you find anything amongst so many records, particularly as i can't detect any 'system' in place.
Only alphabeticization is troo.
On a thread-appropriate note, does anyone have any tips on preventing CD spines from fading? None of my collection is ever in direct sunlight, but nonetheless several discs spines have faded dramatically over time, particularly those with red print. The Def American logos on my Slayer discs in particular are now barely there, whereas the black type remains as stubbornly bold & legible as on day one.
*EDIT*
Aha! Having looked more closely i believe you've grouped your vinyl by region &
then alphabetisized them. Top tier organising sir. My sincere apologies for ever doubting your 'Rage For Order'.

Is that the infamous Bloodstar pile in the bottom right corner?

We actually have a carpenter coming over next week to get a design for a new record cabinet. Currently just using Expedit which is great, but I don't like to stack Expedits on top of eachother because it doesn't look 'clean', and you're always wasting some space. In addition I'd like some spare spaces where I can have a liquor cabinet, and where I stock some of the bones (yeah, I come from the black metal scene after all haha).
For space optimisation I'd always figured I'd go with the Expedit way of storing records, so with the spine towards the room. But thinking about it, if you make the rows deep enough you're not really loosing a lot of storage space by doing it like you Dan. Maybe just because you need make each box 'higher' so you can still flip through it easily. Only issue is that we do have some sunlight coming in at times so that might give an issue with fading.
Do you also store boxsets like this? And what about your singles? I'd like to have one cabinet for 12" and 7" alike, but I've been thinking about just having like a low cupboard on the bottom, with doors, and behind that the singles and other shit (like pins, tote bags etc, all the extra shit that is horror to store).

Looks great Dan, very stylish.
Having drinks and listening to all that obscure metal records in 'dirty rocker' place must be a treat too.

Randomly revisited and noticed the olde comments...
Patrik's place is an absolute Haven and museum of rare kült Steel! He's been doing some restructuring lately, so I'm gonna bully him into posting new pics

A week or 2 after finishing the LP shelves I realized I had another old Ikea shelf that would be perfect for some repurposing, so this was the result:

...though obviously in my head-canon, my recordshelves fucked and had a baby

Nothing fancy, I tried to put them in alphabetic order but give it up after E and F

Zines, cds and records..200-300 tapes in boxes under the bed. A bit chaotic...

DaN! Hah, gotta take some good pictures of the entire music room when I’ve gotten my thumb out and framed more memorabilia and put up on the walls. One of these days huh.

Here’s the new record shelf though, unfortunately back to storing in a kallax again as I ran out of space.
Here’s a couple pictures displaying some records from each compartments. Stored by country pretty much and alphabetically.
Bottom row are mixed non metal records first two, newer records the third
And compilations last two compartments. Not a big collection by any means but I try to keep the quality high instead.
