I remember how a friend picked up the Meliah Rage debut on CD way back when. A couple of us listened to it at his place and we all thought it was just about the worst and most boooring Metal we've ever heard. "Meliah Rage" became an inside joke for years after that. When in the right mood, just mentioning the name cracked us up

Do I dare to give it a second chance almost 2 decades later? Maybe. My taste has undergone plenty of mutations since then, but don't expect me to keep a straigh face.

The first Mastodon EP is great post-Lethargy convoluted math-neurosiscorewhatever and don't let the hype put you off. The first album is also worth a few listens. I don't really care for the Iron Maidenisms of their current stuff at all though.

You probably love Manowar right?
I might back you up to a certain extent, but not if you're gonna suggest that Vicious Rumors deserve to even smell Manowar's shit.

That's what I fell for. Plus the VOIVOD/INFERNAL MAJESTY-like riffing & structure.

I'm quite sure they haven't even heard the name of INFERNAL MAJESTY.

For what it's worth, here are my opinions
Fucking Åmål wrote:VICIOUS RUMORS are one of the best example of an overrated band.
Definetely.
Fucking Åmål wrote:Helstar only ''Burning Star''(one of the best US releases) the others lower quality of course.
I'm not quite sure which albums I have listened to, but at least "Nosferato" and the debut. Booooooooring. And James Rivera is gay.
Fucking Åmål wrote:Liege Lord-Freedom's Rise masterpiece the others never cared to hear
Freedom's Rise is not a masterpiece. It's, maybe not shit, but very boring. Incredibly unmemorable songs. Master Control is quite a nice album though.
Fucking Åmål wrote:Metal Church-Never cared to hear anyway too.
Metal Church = Gods.

My turn now :D
Fucking Åmål wrote:VICIOUS RUMORS are one of the best example of an overrated band.
Not sure about that, I really dig the first album and 50% of the songs on the second and third album. I never could get into their later albums.
Fucking Åmål wrote:Helstar only ''Burning Star''(one of the best US releases) the others lower quality of course.
Helstar's debut and second album are pure classics in the US-genre, timeless, raging, powerful and raw US-powermetal, no discussion needed
Fucking Åmål wrote:Liege Lord-Freedom's Rise masterpiece the others never cared to hear
Apart from one song Freedom's Rise together with Helstar's debut belongs in every metalcollection, Songs like "Rage of Angels" are the reason for me to listen to 80's metal.
Fucking Åmål wrote:Metal Church-Never cared to hear anyway too.
I have to agree with Mordred on this one, definately one of the best bands on this planet. What the hell is able to surpass a mighty track like "Metal Church". Pure fucking class and the first 4 albums are mandatory. Give them another chance Fucking Amal!!

Funny you'd mention Rage of Angels, cause it's the only song I can ever remember from Freedom's Rise. It doesn't matter how many times I listen to it, it just goes in one ear and out the other.

Andy Michaud is god.Andy Michaud=Liege Lord=Freedom's Rise.
That band's massive sound, divine vocals crushes everything.
Surely the best Connecticut band by far.

WARRIOR'S FAREWELL!!!!!

About Vicious Rumors one or two songs in every album and a total unoriginal sound doesn't makes you so attractive. And about Carl Albert i think everyone in this forum can name at any time 50 better vocalists than him.

About HELSTAR yes Remnants of War is good but not masterpiece. That James Rivera vocals sometimes becomes annoying.I prefer the singer of Salem's Law and Solar Eagle any time.OK nevermind, Helstar=best Texas band though.

Now about Metal Church i have never heard a song of theirs but many things distract me from giving them a chance.Btw i think the band name is awful.
