Lately I've been enjoying the demos of Betrayal. Their singer was a stone clone of Paul Baloff. I'm pretending he joined the band post-Exodus, though they aren't as good or complex as that band musically.

Many people here seem to don't give a fuck about innovators. :?

For example I just don't understand that you can put None Shall Defy above all Slayer releases. It just sounds so weird to me. I like Exumer, Sacrifice, Infernal Majesty, Razor, Assassin, etc. But for me they are not on the same level than Metallica or Slayer or other pionneers.

For example, I can't put the first Exodus album at the highest place just because he sounds quite similar to Kill'Em All which have been done before all. So for me it lacks the final touch to make it a perfect album.

I don't think I'm insane

My question is: Don't you give "bonus points" to a band that have bring something new, compared to a band that has just "catch the wave" ? I'd like to have some opinions.

But if you had heard BbB earlier that wouldn't matter at all. If you didn't by chance know that KeA was released earlier that wouldn't matter. It's nice they were the first to release a thrash metal album, but that alone doesn't make the music on the album better.

"but that alone doesn't make the music on the album better."

True. But Kill 'Em All is very good, the proof is that many bands take inspiration from it.

You know I don't judge without listening just because of the year. I mean, I knew Kill'Em All several years while I start to listen to Bonded By Blood, and then I can't "forget" it and indeed many moments of this album recall me Kill'Em All. So this is a little flaw for me... If there was no Kill'Em All, Bonded will be a masterpiece. But since Kill'Em All do exist, that take a little bit of genius from Exodus. That the way I feel...

INSANE - "Wait and pray" LP (Italy 2004)

Close to perfect "Show no mercy" copy.
Unfortunately their one and only record.

The track "Evil Attack" by Future Tense sounds like a Show No Mercy-clone too.

Came to think of the dutch band...

...which I remember my brother used to play quite a lot some twenty years ago. The sounded a lot like Celtic Frost and were pretty good at it too. Anyone remember?

I've never heard about this DELIRIUM band, but if they sound similiar to C.F. then I have to check it out.

While talking about CELTIC FROST clones: DREAM DEATH anyone?

I stopped downloading due to some problems with my laptop.
But I'm listening to it on youtube right now.
The vocals are brutal as hell, I love it. :D

Sound more like ASPHYX to me, they naturally bring FROST to my mind as well but not as a direct influence. Very good album, with a stronger production it would be even better.

Youtube! Forgot about that. Now if this isn't totally Celtic Frost inspired I must be deaf!

Undeniably ASPHYX have plenty of CF elements as well that are incorporated in a pure deathmetallic way to their music, to my ears DELIRIUM's style is closer to the death metal of ASPHYX.

That's taking it a bit too far. You can definitively hear the influence, but a clone is something very different.
