There's a modern element that just comes over as very "nu-metal" to me.
I haven't heard CV yet, but why do i have a feeling that you're telling the truth?
Because many comeback bands suffer from a modern sound, haven't heard the cd either, but when "modern elements" are mentioned I always get a bit suspicious. But I will give it a try.

Though the word "nu" usually makes me running in circles, I trust DaN's taste. Maybe more spins are necessary ...? And the price is "nu" too. 17,95€ ... !

Price isn't too bad considering this is a Scandinavian site. My local record store has most CDs at about 22-25 Euros.

The problem is when you add postage to a country like here, 22€ isn't far from the price it will cost.
And well, most record shops just use local expensive distributors instead of trying to find the cheaper prices. Here the big chains sell 22€ some CDs one can find for 16 or 17€ in some music shops.
However, if any usual distributor carries it, I'll gladly buy it along with other CDs.

Better than "Lords of Hypocrisy" and "In the Shadows"?

Technically not a come-back album since most of the material was written around the same time as Vol. 1
"In the Shadows"
Yes.

I'm really unsure about it. Are there any samples from old and new Sarcofagus? You all seem very hyped about this. I recently saw one old stuff gone for zillions on ebay.

Totally unimportant side note: I would definetely consider Lords of Hypocrisy a comeback album, as it was the first release following around 20 years in retirement and since it is actually a newly recorded album and not some old demo re-released.

I just checked the
SARCOFAGUS home page and now they have the complete "Core Values" album available for download. Which is kinda weird, but now all interested parties can have a go at it before buying.
As it has been mentioned before this is NOT old-school/"retro" Metal, but neither is it NuMetl by a longshot. No hippetyhoppety-grooves, no soft-then-"brootal" vox, nothing at all that I would musically associate with such filth. I can't imagine any NuMetl-fans getting into this anytime soon. The production on the other hand could at first be percieved as "modern" but I would rather use the word "futuristic" here. Overproduced? Sure, but as a very conceptual band SARCOFAGUS gets away with it. Last and foremost "Core Values" rules simply because it sounds so 110%
SARCOFAGUS! it almost puts the old material to shame. Godly riffs upon riffs and haunting, catchy songstructures all the way! "Is this it..", "Techgnostic" and the title track alone proves me right
Edit:
So better than In the Shadows. That makes it... as good as Don't Break the Oath.
Weirdo.

I think i just saved 17.95 Euros + postage. The five first tracks is all that i've heard and i believe i got the idea (and if i didn't get it, forgive me, i can't hear more of it). OK, it's not as NU as i thought it would be (although it has many influences from modern metal, which of course is not only nu-shit) and it's definitely NOT like the old Sarcofagus. Some may say that THIS is the real Sarcofagus in the year 2007, it needs one hell of imagination to imagine how the same band would develop 20+ years since its last album and such comparisons outstretch the whole thing far too long imo. Productionwise, the guitars sound a bit peudoagressive like the nu-crap bands, most of the riffs don't (thank god). There are also some Sarco regular mystical-Egyptian parts which unfortunately have nothing new to offer as the band did the same thing much better and with more style in the past. Basically, i can't call it bad, however as a whole it does sound a tiny bit irritating for my ears. I believe it's an interesting album for those who are curious about Kimmo's current point of view of music, but imo Core Values looks very pale compared with the older monumental Sarco material.

No bad intent aimed, dude. Living in Norway is pretty expensive from what I read. I also read that Oslo has overtook Tokyo in the category of most expensive cities. Comparing 17.95 to 22-25 € does make me think. I probably won't order items from Norway in the future. Although I ordered Trivial Act CD back in the day. It wasn't cheap.

Didn't intend it to sound like I was offended or anything. Prices in Norway are indeed pretty high. Didn't know Oslo had overtaken Tokyo as most expensive city though. Still, it means buying music from abroad is relatively cheap for me

...and it's a thrill like when at KIT me and two friends could buy rounds of beer for each other and the complete round would cost less than ONE beer in Norway.

OK, it's the complete album but some guy ranting all 20 seconds "this is a sample of the new SARCOFAGUS "Core Values" Album blablablablabla" over the music.
I didn't expect something like that. Sounds like Crüxshadows played some heavy guitar tunes over their "UFFTA UFFTA" technodrums *runs away from DaNs wrath*
No maybe I should take a second listen, but I doubt this is something for me.
