Surely this was released in 1980?

Yes, early 1980 but still very much 1980.

I've never been able to figure out what the big deal is with that album. It's got some good songs for sure, but it's no masterpiece.

Okey dokey. It may feature a country hoe-down and extended drum solo but 'The Wizard's Vengeance', 'The Destroyer', 'The Confrontation' and the title-track are all in the realms of supreme for me...the riffs and amazing drumming are the golden ticket. That main riff of 'The Confrontation'...does it not induce wild air guitar like gesticulations in you?

I think it's a perfect album, R.A.R.Z is goofy fun and The Iron Horse is pretty insane!! The title track though... no words can describe how awesome it is.

Neurotic's - Mazy Craniacs might've been a good contender if it had been properly released back then with more audible guitars.

There already is a thread for 1980, although it's several years old. Do you want to use that one instead of starting a new one?

Yes sir.

That was to be bumped.

That's actually where I took the idea from.

Everybody is blind with 80's metal (including me)! Let's try now with some 70's metal! What's your favourite 1979 metal album?

This is mine: The Hand Of Doom - Poisonoise (1979)

Years 1991 or 1992 haven`t apparently been covered yet, and those would be more interesting to me.
