Excellent call Korgüll. I'm a huge fan of their first LP and 'Cemetery' is indeed a killer track.

All of those albums rule, although I prefer the first album by CROM.A special praise goes to DARK QUARTERER of course.HARPIA also rule,a very good Brazilian band along with PLATINA,AZUL LIMAO,SALARIO MINIMO,VODU and other heroes from the '80s.

Decent US-sounding Power/Thrash. Nothing special, but I've been told their 2nd album is better. True?
The second album is not better ...it's good, but the first album is far superior!

Final track 'Cemetary' on the S/T album is one of my all-time fav tracks!!
@ DaN: Apocalypse maybe one of the best thrash bands ever. Debut is faaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaar superior than the second one. Fantastic from start to finish. Since I know you don't like Bay Area thrash, the second won't do you good. But you should give debut more chances.

The debut of Apocalypse is indeed a ripper, total classic. The second one isn't bad, but the first one is far superior

Crom has made a hell of a song on the second album, named "The Chosen One", an epic masterpiece from start to finish.

Isn't it time to start a BAY AREA THRASH - Its Lovers and its Haters topic?

EDIT: Complete burn out today for me. Instead of sleeping, i'm still listening to Obituary and send posts about the fuckin' Bay Area metal. It can't get worse.

Apocalypse's s/t is probably the best Swiss thrash album, and I haven't heard any of other 5 :)

Another excellent call!!!!!

I was thinking in the shower today which are the best Swiss bands of all-time, and it's no easy task...

The only other Swiss bands I could think of that rule were: CORONER/CELTIC FROST/HELLHAMMER (of course!!), EXCRUCIATION, KROKUS, KILLER, POLTERGEIST (I actually really like them!), SAMAEL (awful band now), ALASTIS...

can't think of any more now...?

...this is the only time I have ever thought about The Corroseum whilst in the shower! :D

and, the first band that came to mind were CF! I was thinking back to when I was a young fella & the aura, image & sound they created at the time... I can never forget how CF have made me feel...

They are also playing here in Melbourne this week, is it worth checking out??? I don't like the new album :?

How about Drifter, Carrion, Messiah, ...?

Well, my favorite are Celtic Frost, but what's the style of CF's music? :D

YES. Very very much so. Do - Not - Miss.
Whatever you think of the new album (I personally think it could have been a lot worse..) they do their old material really fucking well. Great stage-presence from both Warrior and Ain too.. Trust me, you don't wanna miss out on Martin Ain's insane rants inbetween songs. Best band I've seen this year together w/ SABBAT at KIT.

I'd say they are Avant Metal. Always gone somewhere else than expected. Along with VoiVod and Coroner and not many others.

Bloodstar are fine. Debut at least.

Funny how often we swerve somewhere else. Time for Swiss and Avant Metal threads? :D

EXXPLORER: Symphonies Of Steel
Overrated in some circles. There's talk of the TRVE AMERICAN POWER METAL MASTERPIECE, which while I really like the album, I don't really buy. Kinda bad production (nothing that hurts the listening experience) a few odd proto-progressive song structure choices, very good musicianship, some fantastically ripping songs. It's US power metal, it tries to sound european (I don't mean 'tries to sound like european power metal') and it has lyrical qualities.

You could do worse than buy this. It's a step below Riot's 'Thundersteel' (1987) and a step above Villain's 'Time Will Tell' (1986) in my opinion, but it predates them both.

haha oh yes, listen to Coldblackugly too!

A total classic! Every song is great even the ballad! Has a good amount of speed metal scorchers and anthemic bombs!!!
Maybe my favorite album from Pokolgep!
